What does this mean for Obama’s presidential prospects? He’s disdainful of small-town America — one might say, of bourgeois America. He’s usually good at disguising this. But in San Francisco the mask slipped. And it’s not so easy to get elected by a citizenry you patronize.
And what are the grounds for his supercilious disdain? If he were a war hero, if he had a career of remarkable civic achievement or public service — then he could perhaps be excused an unattractive but in a sense understandable hauteur. But what has Barack Obama accomplished that entitles him to look down on his fellow Americans?
What is so terrible about this sentence. It sound an awful lot like what the farmers and country people are saying where I grew up in Virginia. I do not see this as a put-down of rural people, but a statement that if for the most part quite true.
1. Many are bitter, bitter about how they feel betrayed by our gov. and especially G. Bush.
2. Say something about gun control and see the response you will get.
3. Cling to religion ... fundamentalists should appreciate this about rural people.
4. Anti-immigration and anti-trade ... figure most fundamentalists also fit in this came.
So, what is the big problem with his statement. If McCain had made this little speech theose who are damning Obama would be cheering.

It hath been declared thus it is truth!
Much like Obama bomba - declare it and they will believe it. (speaking of the last line quoted of course.)
You think the Rev is something, check out Carpro's post.
I would love to post what I think, but I don't respond to anything he says anymore.
It's like casting pearls before swine.
I agree with the Rev here. Obama is an international socialist and he'll have no problem selling us all off
to foreign interests the same as the Bush Clinton coalition did.
Hillary is no different, neither is McCain they're all the same. One party united under globalism. The only thing they disagree on is how to best spend our money and enslave us.
I've agreed with you about socialism forever. Imo though the socialists on the right are even more dangerous. They actually think they're always right...the left has their doubts at least.
Right wing socialists. If there is such thing as a right wing.
Doesn't look it to me I just see a bunch of wanna be international (global) mega-corporatists running around re writting our laws, expanding government and a militarized police state and merging it with business, engaging in massive coercion and theft and deception on behalf of themselves and their cronies. While passing "laws" like HR 1955 to protect themselves from us. The host.
Taking sides in all that mess isn't what it's all about for me.
