“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31)

An interesting read.
This weekend we're supposed to witness a solar eclipse where the moon turns blood red.

The passage from Joel predicts a time when the Moon will take on a red shade without being eclipsed, [edit] in my opinion. -
this..., I take it you skipped over the article?
Nothing in there about Eco-nuts that I read about. -
Isn't it quite possible that God knew when there would be an eclipse and when the prophecy would take place, and that they both 'happened' to coincide? -
So, is the weekend's 'blood red eclipse' going to be visible in Israel?

How would we not know it was a sign from God when it was prophesied beforehand and happened? Whether it happened without an eclipse is beside the point. It happened and that is enough, and it happened because He said it would. -
this..., I posted a link to an article. Why, I even provided A SOURCE in an attempt to keep my critics at bay..., but said critics are like the Huns coming over the wall.
Give me a break, this...!!! All I did was provide a link to a story that appeared on World Net Daily this morning for which I thought was a bit interesting.
As such, I have no desire to engage in any conversation regarding the scientific fact(s) regarding the cycles of our heavenly bodies; when they will eclipse; who will see them; what NASA has to say about it nor when the next full moon will happen. In addition, I don't find myself excited over what John Hagee, Billy Graham, Charles Stanley or Billy Sunday back from the grave might have to say about it.
When the time comes according to the Lord's will then it will happen.
May I suggest you take a couple of aspirins, perhaps a little nap and you'll feel better when you get up.
Otherwise, go impress someone else with your knowledge, skills and abilities. I'm retired and really don't care to entertain you.
Now, is there any part of the above you don't understand?
...enough already! -

Wow...I never knew anyone was worked up until you posted this, and bro, I think it's only you that is!!!!
...yep! That "I" am! Worked up for sure! ...and I'm big enough to admit it!
I post a link about the moon and (copy & paste) a line of scripture from the article (along with my SOURCE) and first thing..., wham!!! Eco-nuts!!! That established the setting!
I just wonder why I'm not smart enough to distinguish an ECO-NUT from the rest of the nuts? -
Verse 31
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,.... Not by eclipses, as Aben Ezra; but by the clouds of smoke arising from the burning of towns and cities, which would be so great as to obscure the sun, and through which the moon would look like blood: or all, this may be understood in a figurative sense of the change that should be made in the ecclesiastic and civil state of the Jewish nation, signified by the "heavens" and "earth"; and particularly that their king or kingdom should be in a low, mean, and distressed condition, designed by the sun; and the change of their priesthood is signified by the "moon": so Vitringa on Isaiah 24:23; interprets the "sun" here of King Agrippa, the last king of the Jews in obscurity; and the "moon" of Ananias junior, the high priest, slain by the zealots:
before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come; not the fall of Gog and Magog, as Kimchi; not the day of the last judgment, but of the destruction of Jerusalem; not by the Chaldeans, but by the Romans; their last destruction, which was very great and terrible indeed, and in which there was a manifest appearance of the hand and power of God; see Malachi 4:1. MaimonidesF21 interprets it of the destruction of Sennacherib near Jerusalem; but if that sense is not acceptable, he proposes that of the destruction of Gog and Magog, in the times of the Messiah. -

That's cool man, hey, are they like corn-nuts?
No..., a corn nut is nothing like eco-nuts.
You see..., an Eco-NUT is one who posts an article on this forum regarding an article about the moon..., along with A SOURCE for the article. The perceived innuendo and insinuation..., albeit, on my part, appears to have been aimed dead center. :BangHead:
A corn-nut on the other hand is consumable, no? Chocked full of chemicals but consumable never-the-less
...I think I'm going to go take a couple of aspirins and rest a bit. -
Additionally, there has been much speculation that over the next two years, lunar eclipses coincide with the Jewish feasts of Passover and of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). But it isn't the first time that's happened. In fact, similar lunar eclipses in back-to-back years have happened seven times since the time of Christ. Some of those have occurred in years of significance for the Jewish people. One was in 1948 when Israel was granted rebirth as a nation, and again in 1967 when the Six-Day War was fought. Did anything of biblical significance happen then? Well, Israel's rebirth was significant, but it is obvious that is not what Joel prophesied. That event was prophesied by Ezekiel. The war was not prophesied at all, despite war being prophesied for Israel in the Old Testament. Any significant event at any other time in association with a blood-Moon? No.
Will anything of biblical significance happen in the next two years? I can't say for sure. Neither can anyone else. But I do not expect God to act in conjunction with a known celestial event. Though He has put all such events in motion and order, He generally acts in very unexpected ways, such as causing the Sun to pause for a day in the sky, or making it retreat when Hezekiah asked for a sign.
For that reason, I don't believe a lunar eclipse has anything to do with the "blood-Moon" prophecy of Joel. I could be wrong. I believe nonetheless it will be
a complete and total surprise to all of us on Earth, believer or not.
