Just how many babies must die to cure Michael J. Fox?

Embryonic stem cell trial gets FDA nod

Posted on Jan 23, 2009 | by Staff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Proponents of embryonic stem cell research won a major victory Jan. 23 when a biotechnology company announced it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials using embryonic stem cells in human beings.

Thomas Okarma, president of the California-based Geron Corp., said his company plans to enroll up to 10 paralyzed patients who can be treated within 14 days of sustaining a spinal cord injury.

Geron will inject embryonic stem cells into the spine at the site of the damage. According to the company, if the cells behave like they have in some animal studies, the cells will mature and repair a lack of insulation around the nerves, restoring the ability of some nerve cells to carry signals.

Geron said it will monitor the patients for at least a year to determine primarily whether the procedure is safe and also whether it is effective.

Embryonic stem cell research has been a controversial issue because the extraction of cells from an embryo destroys the life of a tiny human.

Not all feel that Stem Cell Research is destroying a life, and that this technology might hold out help for many people.

Not all feel that slaughtering unborn children destroys life. What do feelings have to do with it?

Explain how you feel harvesting embryonic stem cells isn't destroying life.

Since life begins at conception, any time someone destroys a fetus for any purpose it is Murder.

Which one of us has the right to play God by taking a life in order to improve another's life?

If I was certain that life began at conception, I would agree with you. I'm not, so I don't.
Then it would be prudent to err on the side of life, or risk God's judgment on those that promote such things.

Who cares what you're certain about? Scripture says it does. Case closed.

Since when is murdering a baby not taking a life. Unless of course in your view they have so little value that killing them is alright.

Since you are not certain when life begins, that is an argument against using embryos rather than an argument for it, especially since God creates man in the image of God.

Dragonfly, if I can prove to you from the Bible that life exists in the womb at least by the 16th day from conception.. would you be willing to say that life begins at conception?

I won't waste my time unless you are willing to learn.

It is very interesting to me that there have been great successes in adult stem cell research, but almost none in embryos. The only conclusion I can come up with is that it's not about preserving life, but preserving abortion in all its forms.

In other words, I think they actually believe they are defending the practice of abortion, by defending embryonic stem cell research.

To me, it is easy for a Christian to understand that life begins at conception... It would be difficult to believe otherwise.

the stemcell movement is the new eugenics.
