You presume incorrectly. Besides we need to war and war is our natural state. War will set a pace we desperately need and will help grow our economy. China needs to be eliminated.
yes it is a fault of which i am guilty.
In my military days i worked as an intel/info technician and learned firsthand concerning man's inhumanity to man.
I operated computers and other devices collecting data which i also (later in my military assignment) analyzed from our enemies and in my day (1960's)
the number 1 candidate was the Soviet Union in her full strength and glory,
So i know from that experience and later as a military system architect/engineer the unthinkable horrors we plan to give each other.
Nevertheless I do believe in AND SUPPORT a defensive war - EYE FOR EYE, TOOTH FOR TOOTH, ETC... and a STRONG MILITARY
That part of the Law of Moses, never given to Gentiles, only to ancient Israel, was a restriction on man’s behavior, not mandating it. In modern usage, it would mean if someone slaps you that you could only slap them back, not take a gun and shoot them.
There is a strain of Christian thought that Christians are to be pacifists. I have studied it but never reached a personal conclusion since the Vietnam War draft ended before I turned 18.
We live in a fallen, corrupt world ever since Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden. We are so corrupt that only by the completed work of Christ Jesus that we can be saved. We all, Christian and non-Christian, sin and sin and sin. It’s just the way it is and like the member of a British bomber crew in WWII who, after a bombing run, would go into the woods and ask God to forgive him for what he had done, we throw ourselves at His feet and ask for mercy on the basis of His Son.
if you want to know what God desires in a government for man then ISRAEL is the model so
EYE FOR EYE TOOTH FOR TOOTH LIFE FOR LIFE is how you behave defensively as a nation.
if any nation such as NAZI GERMANY or IMPERIAL JAPAN falls from natural common grace then they can be dealt with as the principal of equilibrium - EYE FOR EYE,
ETC...
PAX ROMANO WORKS ALSO.
if some one brings a knife to a fight, you bring a gun.
I don’t see it that way. We all have to deal with difficult decisions that we try to make as best we can, when the questions are well above our pay-grade, so to speak.
well if someones depravity crosses my boundaries then you are correct.
Concerning the sermon on the mount and turning the other cheek
1) Jesus addressed issues which were non-life threatening (slap on cheek, etc)
2) what happens when I run out of cheeks?
