I was reading through the Bible yesterday, and read that if the Holy Spirit is blasphemed, it will not be forgiven. I cried when I read it because I don't know if I ever have. It seems is if I may have in an act of defiance against my aunt.
Then I got to thinking that, if I were unforgiven for this sin, would I still feel God's love? I am overwhelmed by it. He is in everything I do, every decision I make. If I am unable to be made clean in his eyes, would He have been willing to reach out to me when He did?
Other thoughts Ive have were that, maybe my purpose is to guide my children. I can be used by God to bring His other children to Him.
If I have blasphemed, then not being able to see God and his Son is my punishment. I accept that. But would I be given a false hope?

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is not something that you can commit in defiance against your aunt.
It is claiming that Jesus' power comes from the devil and not the Holy Spirit. It's what the religious leaders did when Jesus healed a person of demon possession.
They said that Jesus was able to do this because he was a demon, himself.
A blasphemous lie!
Some people say that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be committed anymore because Jesus isn't here in His earthly form and performing miracles in human flesh anymore. I don't know.
But I say that rejecting the Holy Spirit's attempt to convict you of Jesus Christ and rejecting Jesus Christ, (and the Holy Spirit) is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. -
Daughter, welcome.
I figure that if you had blasphemed or committed the unpardonable sin you wouldn't even be worried about it. -
Dear Prodigal Daughter, welcome! And good for you for reading your Bible!
If you look at a few different passages, you will find Bible explains Bible regarding the unforgiveable sin.
Jesus said it is the sin against the Holy Spirit.
Jesus also tells us in John that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.
In Romans 1, we find that God's anger is being poured out on those who suppress the truth by their actions. This is not a one-time thing, but a way of life thing.
When a person consistently suppresses what he or she knows to be true, preferring the lie, then that person has removed him or herself from the possibility of forgiveness, because Jesus IS the truth, and to purposely and consistently prefer the lie is to reject the Holy Spirit's testimony regarding Jesus and all truth.
Because you want the truth, there is no way you can have committed the unforegiveable sin. -
The first half of Scarlett's post was correct: It is attributing the work of Christ to the power of Satan.
I am not sure why Scarlett changed at the end and made it rejecting Christ. That is not unpardonable. Many have turned from rejecting Christ and been pardoned from it, thus receiving salvation.
I do not believe the unpardonable sin is able to be committed today since Jesus is not on earth doing miracles. -
Pastor Larry, I agree with you to a point. But when you say you don't think the unpardonable sin can be committed today I disagree with you.
Since the Bible comes through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and since there are those who blaspheme certain versions of the Bible as being "devil's bibles" or "perversions" of the word of God, then I personally think those are blasphemies against the Holy Spirit. Why? Simply because they are blasphemies against what the Holy Spirit inspired, claiming that certian Bible versions are not the work of the Holy Spirit but the work of Satan simply because the wording is a little bit different than the wording in their preferred version(s).
The Bible teaches us that all Scripture is inspired, not just particular versions of Scripture.

Below is how you have, or will be saved today:
Ephesians 2:4-16. "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11. Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12. That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:"
Know the peace He gives to those in the Body Church, and let no one tell you, you must do this or that to secure your salvation. If we do, we don't believe he did all of the work for us. Don't worry about trying to be good, or being good. We are all saved while being sinners, and it takes some time for us to become what we deem to be good, and even then we could fail in some area. We will never be perfect while we live in these bodies.
What is our duty now?
Galatians 5:13-14, "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." -
The only unpardonable sin that can be committed today is dying without Christ.

So, anyone want to take a chance on blasphemying the Holy Ghost, being it don't matter anymore, anyone?
And neither in the world to come!! hmmmmmm. -
Where can we find the "unforgivable sin"? Just as Pastor Larry says, when the Power of the Holy Ghost was working with His people, Israel. Acts 7:53-60, "Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. 54. When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58. And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. 59. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep."
Just as Jesus told His people in a parable what could happen to them, did happen. He "cut them off" at the stoning of Steven who was filled with the Holy Ghost. -
Hebrews, chapter 6
"4": For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
"5": And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
"6": If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Well, if this one is still exists, I wonder why blasphemy against the Holy Ghost don’t exist. -

Why do you believe that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is no longer a unpardonable sin? Because Jesus died and shed His blood? All the other sins never changed, they still are death if not forgiven. What was the big change of the words of Jesus of the unpardonable sin? Also, I gave you the scripture of Heb. 6:4 which was certainly after the death of Christ. I think it is showing how impossible it is to fall away, but yet Jesus is telling us if we were to do certain acts that we no longer had a chance to be saved.
Unless you have scripture really supporting your position, I think it best to teach people not to blasphemy the Holy Ghost as to say that God has an unclean Spirit. You could be wrong and then what about the ones that were taught that you couldn't blasphemy against the Holy Ghost anymore? Just my opinion, God bless, -
The writer of Hebrews, whom I believe to be Paul, is talking to them and no one else. The Jews that were of the "Kingdom is at hand gospel" had tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, as shown in verse 4. They had tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, shown in verse 5.
Please note that these of Israel, the Hebrew people to whom this is written were justified by faith, and are of that "Kingdom Church". They had to endure to the end just as did Moses, David and all the rest. These had not been saved by the preaching of the Cross, but by the "great commission" gospel of you must repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins. That is not the gospel we find at the Cross where we are justified through faith, and by the Grace of God we are saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ. Please read in Hebrew (chapter 11) how all before Damascus Road were saved. From the very beginning every human being had to do a work and we do not.
How was Abel accepted, or Enoch translated, Joseph and even Rahab. Through faith was not available to any, before God said it was.
