I had a chat with someone earlier today and it was obvious that she was learning from the WOF Gospel. She told me to think and proclaim that God will give me a good paying job that will wipe out all my debts and it will come to pass. She told me that at one time God had given her such a job, yet when I spoke with her she was unemployed and struggling financially, but she did not comment much on that.... I asked her what of those in Africa whom live in poverty? She replied that they want to live in Poverty and can get out of it if only they declared financial freedom. In other words millions of poor africans have chosen poverty out of their own free-will. She said I am in debt because I choose to be, and God can and will bail me out when I start declaring it everyday. Interesting that she criticized Joel Osteen, but praised Andrew Wommack whom is another false WOF teacher.

I also asked her about Charles Stanley and she did not speak highly of him, and I suggested she read his book on the Holy Spirit as Stanley himself denounces such teachings that she so dearly holds.
Guys this WOF doctrine is a deadly one and I believe that Satan may be performing miracles and making them look like they are from God in an attempt to deceive lost souls. I have no idea if this person was saved, but she is in deep error. However she did have a positive personality which was refreshing.

I watched about 5 minutes of Joel Osteen two weeks ago and heard this same stuff out of his mouth. If you're out of work, just speak faith filled words over your life, and watch what happens, he said the same things about many other facets of life. He never ever said see what God will do, just speak faith filled words. That is it. PRESTO!!!!
However I know many in my SBC church who think Osteen is great. -

Basically the same philosophy (?) of those who held Jean Dixon to be a "prophet".
They seize on the once out of 500 that she gets (got) right, but somehow miraculously forget the other 499.
Shouldn't affect your salvation, but sure will affect your daily walk and trust in Him! -

Wommack summarizes his teaching as follows:
"[It is] about taking your authority, recognizing that there are certain things under our control, speaking and seeing things come to pass."
It’s true there are many things for which we’re held responsible, but where Wommack goes wrong is assuming that we can and should determine how to handle things and take control. Our first responsibility is as follows:
John 6, NASB
28 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?"
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
And what did Jesus say when the Devil tempted Him to take control, “speaking and seeing things come to pass”?
Mark 4
3 And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."
4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.' "
The children of faith walk according to whatever God says and commits to their trust. Believing in Him translates into obedience, not “name it and claim it.” Wommack has the cart in front of the horse. That is, he puts himself before the Lord and therefore acts as if he is the Lord. His heart is with man (himself), not with God. He thinks he walks with God because he talks, but his heart is deceived. Those who take up the cross talk because they walk. We speak the truth because we do and are the truth. -

I'm already in trouble at my church because I don't go along with this "miracles for money" stuff. The problem is that I'm only 13 years old, my parents are unbelievers, and I just "got saved" this summer. So what do I know, right?
Yet I know I'm going to walk away sooner or later because I'm completely disgusted with all the fake "anointing," the pageantry and drama designed to stir up excitement and "expectation" (which somehow is equated with faith).
What are BIBLICAL grounds for leaving a church, and shouldn't I have another place to go before I quit where I am?

All I have to go on so far is, "this doesn't feel right," and "it wasn't like this in the bible accounts." What I need is some teaching from the Bible to prove - or disprove - the doubts I'm having about all this healing-and-signs-and-wonders stuff. But all I have are questions!
Here's an example:
They are pressuring me to "get the baptism in the Holy Spirit" so I can speak in tongues and stuff. But in order to get the baptism I need to:
- be free of all known sin
- have no unconfessed sin
- be pure in thought
- be free of all deceit and all doubt and all sin.
Question: Excuse me, but if I'm supposed to acheive such a profound sinless perfection in order to qualify for Holy Spirit baptism, why do I need Holy Spirit baptism at all? Don't we "get" anything God gives us by grace through faith? This sounds like "works" to me.
Question: Every time tongues was interpreted in Acts (I read the whole book again yesterday), it was done by unbelievers, who understood and were convicted by what they heard, even when the speaker wasn't aware of it. Paul even said it's a sign for unbelievers (1st Corinthians 14:22), not believers, so how come unbelievers don't interpret tongues in our church? I guess I can get the "prayer language" thing (1st Corinthians 14:14-16), but that's in private! Why do we do it in church, out loud, taking turns? How does the interpretation of
QUESTION: Why does someone who was miraculously healed of gout two Sundays ago need to get a refill or something the next Sunday for the same illness? If healing depends on "having enough faith," what is being "conjured up" for lack of any better way to say it during our services if it isn't faith?
Anyway see what I mean? All I have are questions! How is a little 8th-grader who just became a Christian this past summer supposed to "stand up and boldly speak the truth?"
This is a Southern Baptist church, just for the record.

I am so sad that your parents or whomever is forcing you to attend this type of church. I have some real concerns for what is being taught there and really question the leadership. To answer your questions I say it is good that you are being a Berean and showing that you love the Word of God. Sadly those in leadership at this church do not know the Bible and have distorted its clear teachings. I would suggest you purchase the following books.
Charismatic Chaos by John MacArthur
Who are you to Judge by Erwin Lutzer
These books will help you build discernment and will point you to many scriptures, and will also show the problems with the type of church you are involved in. You may not have a choice but if you remain in such a church I can only smell trouble as you are not like-minded and are not conforming to their way of thinking which usually is trouble speaking from experience. Such environments are very intimidated by those that love the word of God and wish to test what they say, and usually will ostracize or discriminate in someway against those that do not conform. In the past I have left such churches because of this reason, and you must be in a church that teaches sound doctrine.
I pray for you.

I think I'll start a new thread then, specific to the question, "What are biblical grounds for leaving a church."
If false doctrine is one - I mean HARMFUL false doctrine - then I think I have grounds... but I'm still a brand new believer and am not able to just go searching for a new one on my own. I don't think "online church" would suffice, but it's my only option for now, since my parents are unbelievers and I'm still three years away from even getting a driver's license!
