Ironic that there are laws to limit how many shells you can have loaded in your shotgun when you hunt waterfowl (for their protection) but it's OK to have 30 rounds in a cartridge to kill humans.

Gee willikers guys it's only a thousand to one, three rounds should be ample protection. -

Folks, with many types of shotguns the three shot limit is implemented with an easy to remove magazine spacer. My Dad's Browning 16 gauge uses a wooden dowel.
IIRC, the three shot limit came about because of market hunters in the early 20th century. -
Limiting the number of rounds people can use to protect themselves from dangerous threats like hoards of angry looters or power hungry tyrants and their minions makes no sense at all. -

The solution is simple. The government at all levels, federal, state, and local, needs to honor the 2nd Amendment for what it says. We have several shot guns, but keep a 38 revolver loaded for home protection. (SW). I am not a big fan of guns like some folks around here, but neither I nor anyone else has the right to tell any family what guns they can or cannot own.
Personally, I think it violates the 2nd Amendment to be required to register a gun. That is the only way to buy one at a store or gun show. I have lost track, is it still legal not to register a gun if one buys it from an individual? -
SN, those laws vary by state, and some cases by city.
Depending on the seller I can buy a gun at a gunshow and it's the same as buying it from you standing in your garage. No paperwork needed. It's a beautiful thing.
I agree, registration is an infringement. All these laws are, IMO, an infringement. However, I suppose that depends on how people are defining that word. -

But, of course, I am not a lawyer, merely a citizen looking at the law from my layman's point of view and according to the opinion of many. -
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
ANY limitation on the right of people to keep and bear arms is an infringement. Doesn't matter if it's the federal government, state government or a small town mayor.
Registrations, background checks, restrictions of types of firearms and knives, permits, gun free zones, are ALL infringements on the right of the people to bear arms. IMO, that includes putting limitations on components that would render the arms ineffective.
Yes, I know all the arguments that some use to try to change those 14 words. And, I also know how close we are to making those 14 words null and void because of acceptance of those arguments.
And, I know too how far the world has gone in its attempt to make these 25 words null and void, too.
John 3: KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
