USA Today: Airlines cancel flights to Israel over rocket threat
Delta Air Lines, United and US Airways each canceled flights Tuesday to Israel because of safety and security concerns.
-------
Long-range rockets launched from Gaza since July 8, 2014 have reached many locations in Israel, including Tel Aviv. While many rockets have been intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, there have been impacts that have caused damage and injury.
Israeli Defense Forces said in its Twitter feed that Iron Dome had intercepted one rocket above Tel Aviv while a second rocket fell in the town of Yehud, about a mile and a half from the airport. Click to expand...
That's pretty much a secondary goal of Hamas, to disrupt international traffic -- and therefore aid and support -- for Israel.
My question would be, how much of this is true safety concern, and how much of it is a knee-jerk reaction against Israel? The airlines like money, but do they like being seen favorably by the left even more?

It just got worse.
Fox News: FAA tells US airlines that all flights to Tel Aviv airport prohibited for 24 hours
The Federal Aviation Administration has told all U.S. airlines that flights to Israel’s Tel Aviv airport are prohibited for 24 hours after a rocket from Gaza landed in the area.
Delta Air Lines and United Airlines said earlier Tuesday they are suspending service between the U.S. and Israel indefinitely. US Airways scrapped its Tel Aviv service Tuesday and said it is monitoring the situation in regards to future flights.
The FAA said in a statement that the ban on flights is for 24 hours beginning at 12:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and that a rocket landed about one mile from Ben Gurion International Airport Tuesday morning. Click to expand...

There's no need to resort to conspiracy theories. I think considering what happened in Ukraine, most airline companies prefer to be on the safe side.
