Todays Evangelism: Its Message and Methods
The Lord opened this book up to me and I STRONGLY recommend it. Its a wonderful book refuting modern evangelism, but also providing a Biblical view of evangelism. Its not a book that pleads for a "passion" or where the author tells all kinds of stories, but a book that does nothing but quote scripture, and explain it. This book lets the Bible explain itself, it does not let the author inspire people to do evangelism by his experience and opinions.

An indepth study of the apostle Paul will show you that he was one of the greatest psychologists in history. He knew people, he knew how they thought, he knew what they're own self-erected obstacles to Christ were and how to overcome them. You don't do that be beating them over the head with sin and the law. You do it by knowing them, knowing who they are, and knowing where they're at.
You're going to talk about sin and the law, certainly, but you're not going to use them as a bludgeon. That's what's wrong with Reisinger, and that's what's wrong with most of the so-called evangelists we see today. They think variations on the "You're a sinner and going to hell!" theme is going to get people to listen. They are too wrapped up in a "system" to let Christ work through them. -
Or so into manipulating a response they never get around to the gospel.
I came to Christ through mass evangelism, and support evangelism totally. But we can always learn to do it better! -
Walter Chantry's :"Today's Gospel:Authentic or Synthetic" is a handy companion volume. Reisenger's book came out in 1982 and Chantry's in 1970.
Reisenger also released :"The Law and the Gospel" in 1982" which you need to read before blasting. -
I found new life as I as walking to high school one day after visiting a Young Life meeting.
I stopped beside a small stream and prayed.
Young Life at that time sang 60's style songs, sometimes with a Christian twist with a gospel message to follow.
God uses great and varied ways to call his children to him.
