    You need to make the distinction between ALL TAXES and income taxes. The OP specifically stated INCOME TAXES.

    I stand by my 35% number.

    Getting warmer....though we agree on the most major issues.

    Nope, that's not it either.

    The problem is when someone, like the unknown author in your OP, makes blatantly untrue statements, or else makes statements containing half-truths. I feel these things should not be allowed to slide by as if they were facts. I'm equal opportunity. I've taken CrabTownBoy, RighteousDude2, ThisNumberDisconnected, Poncho, and many others to the woodshed over things.

    That distinction was made. You evidently did not read far enough.

    You can stand by it till the cows come home, it won't matter. Your number is true only if you confine it to the top 1%. That is only your definition of "rich" and not a true reflection of the facts in th OP.

    You are absolutely correct - and that's why it is constitutional for a State or Commonwealth to require ID when voting.
