You need to make the distinction between ALL TAXES and income taxes. The OP specifically stated INCOME TAXES.

The problem is when someone, like the unknown author in your OP, makes blatantly untrue statements, or else makes statements containing half-truths. I feel these things should not be allowed to slide by as if they were facts. I'm equal opportunity. You can stand by it till the cows come home, it won't matter. Your number is true only if you confine it to the top 1%. That is only your definition of "rich" and not a true reflection of the facts in th OP. -
