Atheists believe that as well.

Travel made me appreciate the country I live in. It didn't make me modest, though.

Travel is one of the best gifts you can ever give to your children. It allows them to see the world through different eyes. It expands their horizons. Of course, it causes them to appreciate their home and their own country in so many ways.
At the same time, it teaches them to question things as well -- which is a good thing. It shows them that other people do things differently - not necessarily wrong - just differently. If they get to worship in another country/culture, it's even better. They get to see that Jesus followers are everywhere and that, while we may be so different, we are so much more united. -

I would love to travel around the world someday, once I have got the budget for it. For me, travelling is one of the best things in this life. As much as you can, go to places and explore new things. Make your stay here on earth an interesting one. :)

I agree and its only when you travel that you actually realise how little you know about the world and its people. You tend to be consumed by your own life, your own troubles and its only when you travel and see how others live, that you can actually start to appreciate your own life and it ourmts things into perspective.

I have never been in a place financially in my life where I could travel. I traveled a bit but there is just so much more I would love to it but only in my dreams I guess.

Nah. It makes it much smaller. Not bigger.

A couple of great travel stories --
A colleague has only a few more years to go before she hits her goal of 40 countries before she turns 60 -- quite the traveler.
Even better - friends of ours' son and DIL (who are DINKs in their 20's) quit their jobs and sold most of their possessions so that they could travel the world -- which they did for 9 months. From Eastern Europe to the Middle East to Africa to Asia to the Far East to back home. Had the trip of their life. -
Travel has changed my view of the country I live in and helped me to appreciate the part of it I live in better.

Like you say, even travelling in your own country can open your eyes and you can enjoy new experiences that you never dreamed would only be such a short distance away.
