Was searching on google last night and was looking through page after page for a web address and a message popped up that they were under attack by a virus, to check my computer for probems.
I shut down the net/browser/email immediately and started a scan. Two copies of a trojan were in my browser cash.
They were of a type that goes to the net and downloads other trojans that do nasty things according to Norton.
Very thankful google gave me a heads up!

A good anti-virus program and firewall are a must for today's computers.

I still haven't figured out why norton didn't pick them up when they came into the system, thought they scanned all stuff incoming. I went to report it to them and they already knew about the thing ??

Knowing about it, and already having a viable update, are two totally different things.

I use Norton too & have learned that automatic update isn't always up to speed at keepin up with new bugs. You can manually update, if they have the new list out. I think it's only released once a week...I think. They tell on their site.

That's why I like my antivirus. It checks every time I turn on the computer, and several times a day while the computer is on.
Something to think about regarding Norton- they have become a new target. Virus writing are targeting Norton and Macafee. Why? Because they are the big dogs, and if you take out the dog there ain't nothing to stop you from walking on into the house.

Avg is downloading at present, will give it a run and see how it goes. Norton expires on my main puter in couple of days so the time is right :)

I was using AVG when I ran a scan, I would finish and no viruses were found. The next day when I started AVG, a msg would pop up,"Scan Was Stopped Before It Was Finished, Do You Want To Continue From Where Program Was Stopped, Yes or No?
Of course I always started at the beginning.
I bought McAfee, when I ran it I would get a msg. your system can't support this program you need Win. 98 or newer. I have Win. XP. I uninstalled McAfee and reinstalled it 3 times with the same result.
I took it back and exchanged it for Norton. Loaded Norton and had no problems, in fact Norton found some viruses after I loaded it. Today it stopped 3 attacks.
However, after reading Bible Believing Bill, I think I'll download AVG again and keep it around. -
I use ezAntivirus and ezFirewall from Computer Associates. And have used it for about two years. And plan on continuing to use it.
It has saved my bacon many, many times.
CA has an internet suite that they offer. It comes highly recommended (Lockergnome).
