    No, they can't. He filed financial disclosure statements which is all he is required by law to do.

    You really don't know anything about the US do you?

    No, they can't. Separation of Powers gives him final authority over all those employed in the Executive Branch and forbids the Legislative Branch from interfering.

    You really know nothing about our government, do you? Another low information voter (assuming you are a citizen, registered, and voted).

    Democrats set to demand Donald Trump's tax returns after winning House majority
    Stupid is as stupid does.


    Democrats will likely use their new House majority to demand President Donald Trump’s tax returns as they subject the administration to a tough new regime of oversight.

    MSNBC’s Ari Melber first reported Tuesday night plans by Representative Richard Neal, ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, to use his powers as committee chairman to review the returns.

    Neal, a Massachusetts Democrat, who was expected to lead the committee after Democrats took hold of the House in Tuesday's midterms, told CNN in October that he first planned to ask Trump for the tax returns, and if the president refused, Neal said he would use an obscure 1924 IRS code law to formally request them.

    The law Neal planned to use gives the Ways and Means committee chairman the power to demand and receive any taxpayer records from the IRS for confidential review.

    Yes, stupid is as stupid does. They can ask and cry and throw as many tantrums as they want to but there is no statutory requirement to provide anything other than the financial disclosure he has already filed.

    Please! Learn something before posting. Read the law.

    AND...Trump's lawyers will challenge the use of this law, it will be tied up in the courts for months (years?).
    OR...Trump will turn over his tax returns the day after they are requested.

    Big deal.

    Light is right again, the minute Congress issues this subpoena, Trump will claim executive privilege, and no judge will allow the release unless a defined crime was committed - no fishing expeditions here.

    I hope he NEVER releases these returns after the way Harry Reid willingly lied about Mitt Romney's. They are just obsessed with Trump and this is their number one priority, that's sad.

    Trump seems to think it's a big deal. Otherwise he would have already done this as he promised to do during the campaign. His excuse that he couldn't do that while being audited is bogus. Nixon released his tax returns which were still under audit.

    I can force AN y citizen to turn over his tax returns. Trump is not above the law as he will soon find out. Why are you so afraid of having his tax returns made public like every other recent president?

    You won't get it. I'm still waiting for him to copy-and-paste the McConnell quote where he said he was going to cut Social Security and Medicare to reduce the deficit in order to pay down the debt.

    1924 law allows the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee to examine anyone’s tax returns in private, without their permission, and the likely incoming chairman, Massachusetts Democrat Richard Neal, has said he’d go after Trump’s IRS filings. The law allows him to share the material in private with other lawmakers on the panel and their staff.

    26 U.S. Code § 6103 - Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information
    (f)Disclosure to Committees of Congress

    (1)Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation

    Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.
