U.S. drops plans to keep troops in Iraq

Without a doubt this is good news. We have been trying to force democracy and a democratic structure into this country. Democracy cannot be forced and an unstable Iraq that finally can be self sustaining is better and a U.S. forced Iraq, I think propping up regimes in that area has never worked for us... just ask the Shah of Iran.

It is time to walk or crumble on your own. Bring our troops home.

Great news! Now let us get out of Afghanistan

Yep, tired of our youth being killed and maimed. They should have been home many years ago but neither president has had the courage to act. It has taken FAR to long to realise that the war on terror is won by quick surgical strikes.

They should've never been in Iraq to begin with. We, and they, were lied to and decieved; we've been neo-conned:

..... and this deception continues with the non-stop propaganda campaign for war with Iran:

Agreed. I am so proud of our young men and women who serve us in the military, but saddened that so many suffer as a result of unwise military action.

My youngest son-in-law did 2 tours in Iraq (jumped in first wave with 173rd Airborne Brigade) and one in Afghanistan. He is one fine young man and served his country well. He survived some intense combat in Afghanistan, several of his comrades were killed, but he doesn't talk about it, I just know what little my daughter has told me.

It's time for America to concentrate on our own problems. If not, we may not be in position to help anyone else much in the future.

We have lost too many of our brave military personal trying to help countries who don't want our help.

We're so far into the hole financially, it staggers the imagination; it angers me to no end when I think about my grandchildren and their children will be paying for these things. What have we done?

There is not enough children or grandchildren to pay off our debt. We have way surpassed any hope of ever paying it off. We have a reported 15 trillion dollar debt. One trillion is a million dollars a day, every day, for 2739 years. We are over 15 times that in debt borrowing over 40% of every dollar we spend. The issue now is when will we fall as a nation because of our debt and become like a third world nation not who is going to pay it off.

Then we might as well start WW3. If we strike first then maybe we will come out on top and steal the most land and natural resources.

Anyone have a better plan?

I appreciate your optimism.
