Currently the US has six territories.
US money goes there, but they do not pay federal income tax.
What is the purpose of maintaining these territories?
Should we let them loose.
Thoughts?

I think one advantage of these territories for the US is that of an expanded US presence.
Think of the 3-mile (?) territorial waters surrounding each territory. Those 3 miles are US waters, as well as the air space above them.
Guam is currently the destination of US bases from Japan.
That is a sovereign US territory tactically advantageous to the US in that part of the world (Southeast Asia). -
Yep. They serve a tactical advantage for the US and our allies.
So, I expect Obama to give them away during his next term.
