    "Dictator"??? What an ugly smear.

From the CIA Factbook (surely a somewhat reliable source):

Er...yes. Chavez was democratically elected. Sure, he's no fan of untrammelled capitalism and therefore the US but that's his democratic mandate; poor people of the sort who voted for him tend not to be fans of capitalism either, funnily enough.

So let's drop the 'dictator', eh?

I believe that Hitler and Stalin were "democratically" elected, as well. By "overwhelming" majorities.

We here in America love domcratically elected leaders in other countries as long as they tow our line Matt. If they don't we call them dictators and arrange to have them killed and have our own "dictator" installed in his place.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. That makes sense (well, on one level at least).

So if the will of the electorate is to eliminate a whole race of people, should we let them ?

Hitler was elected, but he did not stay within the bounds of his elected office.

Hitler was elected. Not sure about Stalin. </font>[/QUOTE]Nope again. The Nazis were the largest single party in the November 1932 elections to the Reichstag (the last democratic elections prior to 1949) but never won a majority. Hitler's initial government was a coalition as a consequence with him and Goering as the only Nazis in it. It was the military-industrial power brokers rather than the ballot box who helped him into power.

Ok, but he was elected to be the head of the Nazi party.

Looks like Stalin had to have a revolution to get into power.

Actually the real funny thing is when a leftist/socialist takes advantage of the fears and ignorance of the poor... it is called democracy and justice. But God forbid- let a company give a poor, uneducated person a job and its called exploitation.

"So if the will of the electorate is to eliminate a whole race of people, should we let them ?"

??? if the race of people is within their national border we should start a war or only if they have oil resources?

We should kill anyone who doesn't like us or who theoretically has the resources to become a military power or can beat us economically?

Ok, I'll answer. WE SHOULD DEMAND THAT OUT GOVERNMENT OFFCIALS WORK WITHIN THE CONSTITUTIONAL BOUNDRIES SET FORTH IN THE FIRST TEN AMMENDMENTS. That means no spending my money on unconstitutional "moral" issues and no using my kids to do it.
