CBS News featured a focus group of American Muslims on Friday, where they were supposedly able to speak openly about being Muslim in America.
Recent news from The Intercept, however, revealed how at least two individuals who took part in the discussion have complained that CBS edited out segments that might be construed as negative toward the U.S. military and domestic surveillance programs.
They also accused moderator Frank Luntz of silencing individuals when they criticized discriminatory U.S. government policies.
New York City activist Amelia Noor-Oshiro told The Intercept when Luntz asked individuals how they felt about Islamic terror attacks like the one in San Bernardino, she asked Luntz, “Why don’t you ask that to people who actually commit acts of terror? Why don’t you ask that to white America, who are responsible for a majority of domestic terror attacks?”
This comment didn’t make it to the final edited piece CBS aired.
New York City journalist Sarah Harvard posted to social media that many of the telling exchanges were omitted from the piece, adding Luntz also cut her off.
