I'm posting this to see what other Baptists may think of what happened, what was thought of mentally, before the Creation? Infralapsarianism, in my very little understanding of it, seems like the most logical order in my opinion. I'd appreciate others viewpoints as well.
Thanks TCassidy! I appreciate your input. I've read your other responses to other posts and you seem to be very literate in the Bible and theology. Do you have any book recommendations for a young gun fascinated in theology and the Bible?
I would recommend Strong's Systematic Theology by Augustus Strong. It is a classic but beware of his ethical monism.
And any one of the several books on Theology written by Emery Bancroft. A good place to start would be Elemental Theology and/or Christian Theology, Systematic and Biblical.
I've done a little reading in Elmer Towns' Theology for Today, and one of my college classes had me read bits and pieces of Clarence Thiessen's Lectures in Systematic Theology. I've also seen that Lewis Sperry Chafer's Systematic Theology was, as Maranatha Baptist Seminary puts it as "most extensive dispensational systematic theology ever written."
Calvinism is 9 parts speculation and one part hooey.
Folks should tie their beliefs to specific scripture.
Speculation is the mother of false doctrine.
Take the concept that in the abode of God, time does not exist, no before and after.
Scripture to support the speculation, none.
Underlying assumption, since God created physical time, spiritual time did not exist outside of creation.
Hogwash.
Scripture tells us spirits in heaven were aware of the passage of time.
They asked how long....
Wayne Grudem and Milliard erickson both have written excellent Systematic Theologies, either would profit one to use them...
And belioeve Moody still has a book by Paul Enns that brings together differing views on say Arminian/Calvinism, eschatology etc!
LOL, the order is given in scripture!!
Please list the order and the supporting scripture.
Trust me folks, no answer will be forthcoming.
Ok carry on.
BTW scripture says 24 angels can dance on the head of a pin.
Or was it 2 million.
You just have to be willing to look for the answer!!
:)
None of the above offer anything to the discussion. Mere ridicule and casting aspersions. How Van gets by with continual trolling and derailing is bothersome and old.
