Volunteer utility teams from Alabama to help restore power were allegedly turned away from the area by New Jersey crews because they were not unionized.
According to waff.com in Huntsville, Decatur Utilities worker Derrick Moore said a crew of Decatur workers was told that they couldn’t work in Seaside Heights since their employees didn’t belong to a union.
The Daily Caller reported that Alabama teams from Decatur and Huntsville went to Long Island instead. A crew from the Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Co-op that was reportedly turned away has gone home.

Alabama crews sent to help in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast were told they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

Mr. Christie and Mr. Obama--when you are done with your mutual admiration society meeting could you please "cut through the red tape, cut through the bureaucracy"?

Warning that "this storm is not yet over," President Obama vowed that his administration would pull out all the stops to get aid to those hit by Hurricane Sandy.

There is "no excuse for inaction," Obama said after a brief unscheduled visit to Red Cross headquarters in Washington. "I want you to cut through red tape; I want you to cut through the bureaucracy. There is no excuse for inaction at this point."

With all of the rules and regulations and unions in the northeast, it wouldn't surprise me if food was turned away for not meeting "nutrition requirements" either. No oversized Cokes, please, etc.

This is just a sampling of what you get when you have liberals running the show.

So, what will take weeks to restore power could have been shortened up with a Noreaster coming along on the heels of Sandy. And people are dumpster diving for food.

Take a good look, everyone, this is what liberalism and the unions will do to you when unchecked.

Christie's office just issued a response saying they were not turned away because of the union but because they were not needed in the area they went to. Clarification was asked for in that did they then redirect them to an area where they could be used but the Governors office has yet to respond to that.
