I do plan to vote for Obama if nothing changes between now and Nov 4th but I have to question Sen Stevens. I would hate to see a government that is 100% controlled by any party much like one that is so controlled by a single party that they need 0% cooperation of the other party(s) to pass legislation.
I feel Stevens who is 84 and spent many years on the Hill should have allowed another republican candidate to have the ticket to not risk a defacto loosing of his seat. Also, and I hate to think this, but at his age, what if the Lord calls him home?
Perhaps the better question is "Is Obama selfish?" Here is a man running with no principles whose ideas are bad for this country. He is not running for betterment of this country, and he will not help it. So shouldn't he step aside?
And what about those who vote for Obama? Are they being selfish? They are voting for someone who has no principle and no good ideas for this country. They are voting for someone who wants to make the country more socialist and spend more money we don't have giving away things.
All this is simply opinion and no fact. Stevens election will be decided by a judge/jury and not the voters and at 84 he should be ready to enjoy a retirement. I simply said if he was thinking of the party and other than himself he would have allowed the next generation to rise while they have his experience and knowledge to mentor.
I'm thinking Obama shouldn't count on your vote but we'll leave you as an undecided since you seem to straddle the fence of indecision.
I'm saying "other" because i think there is about 535 people in Washington that need to pursue other vocational choices.
But if this is being "selfish", what about Ted Kennedy and his medical condition, shouldn't he step down?
Or the 3 candidates seeking the White House out of the Senate...isn't that selfish?
No, there is no reason they can't continue to serve on the Senate if they loose POTUS election. I'm not sure what happens in IL and DE if Biden Obama gets the nod. Does that mean the republican opponent gets the job?
Stevens might get a mistrial if the jury continues to fight so maybe his run wasn't selfish. Either way, we know any decision will be overshadowed with doubt and challenged with the way the deliberations are going.
I can't apologize to him directly so I put my apology here.
Sorry, thats not correct. The OP only addressed his age, nothng more, the op set the topic for this thread, age.
Not a thing mentioned about a felony, therefore a felony is not the topic of this thread, but as the op stated, the man's age is the topic. You think we could stay on topic?
What do we do with people when they become obsolete and usless because of advanced age?
Seems to me Abraham was much older when God used him greatly. How about Noah, pretty old and obsolete? Moses, yep, the aged old man. hummm, seems to me, God doesn't think people are old and obsolete, it's only man who has such a low opinion of older peoples.
LOL, I don't know where you live, but they do it all the time here. My old churches oldest member died a few years agao at 103, current oldest member is like 95. I can point you to quite a few people over 90 here, and several over 100. Maybe your living in the wrong place, gotta save your life and move.
And of course, this is your only response to t posting off topic of the op and saying the op's topic is a felony, when in fact you were wrong it is age and being obsolete.
Nice try, but no cigar.
This may have been your intent, but in fact according to your op, felony and trial is off topic, what is on topic according to you is a person becoming obsolete because of their age. My question I have asked, on topic, is, what do you do with people who have become obsolete?
My point is simply that the individuals in the Pentateuch lived significantly longer lives.
The average life expectancy of an American is not anywhere near 90.
Of course, you will find people who make it to that age, but it's not the norm.
I was only speaking regarding my position.
I don't care if Stevens is 35 or 340 years old; he is a felon and has no business in his position.
