Robert my dear brother, its true we have our falling outs & differences of opinion but I am sympathetic to the plight of the Working & Middle Class. That having been said that Brother Carpro is a fellow Marine & a Brother to me both as a Christian (we all three are) & as a fellow Marine. For all you or I know he may have given much for his country already ....Im saying Im not going to slander the man.

Further, we all as Americans need to work together to get this country back on track. Its vital to all our families , our children & grandchildren. Unions were started to protect the working class.....my family worked in the mines & later in factories so they were necessary for quality of life however I personally take a dim view of government & Teachers unions. Auto Workers are making allot of concessions that we never thought unions would make. Somehow we have to ferret out the productive & necessary unions from the dross....Thats why I asked you if you work for a union. I know you are a machinist (a skilled laborer) & too many of you have been thrown out of work. But you dont have a union & your employers are from what I understand are fair.

Carpro should understand that skilled labor needs to stay here & not be exported & Im sure he does. So what is the problem?

Then why are all the New England Union factories closed ? With protection like that, who needs enemies ?

China trade imbalances & currency manipulation was too much thats why.....Unions had no hope of being competitive. Go ask Clinton & his finance committee what they did to make that happen. That NAFTA Con Game to US manufacturers was engineered to get manufacturing to South America & Mexico. Then to the surprise of the owners of the factories, China could still make it far cheaper. So they then had to liquidate what they just built & invested in & had to move it to China, Korea, Vietnam etc (Pacific Rim Countries) Lot of them feel they are still recouping their losses from that NAFTA nonsense.

As usual, you missed the point entirely. It's about wages , JG. Not protectionism. But both drive up prices.

Unions would love nothing better than to just shut Wal-Mart down. They've been trying for years and have failed so far.

All to the benefit of the people who shop there.

As usual, you're speaking from left field and have no clue about much of anything.

Casting aspersions on my Christianity is just a diversion and causes people to question yours.

But, please. Carry on. I enjoy the floundering around looking for an issue you can actually handle.

You hit the nail on the head. The U.S. needs to withdraw from NAFTA and protect American jobs.

I hate Wal-Mart and I don't shop there because it makes me feel low class. Wal-Mart sells things cheap, but they put local businesses out of business. I try to support local businesses with my hard earned money.

I find it interesting that your only solution is to destroy the middle class by driving down wages. Protectionism also increases prices, but wages go up and domestic manufacturing stimulates the economy.

Don't like to mingle with the great unwashed of America, huh?

I'm not surprised an aspiring liberal elite would despise Wal-Mart. They sell poor and middle class people many products at a lower price than they can get anywhere else. This ticks off unions and trade protectionists no end.

As for wages, you're wrong again , as usual. I favor market based wages. Some may go up. Some may go down. Unions can take a hike and the minimum wage would be abolished.

The reason Wal-Mart needs to sell cheap products is because Reagan and Clinton destroyed manufacturing. I want to buy goods and services made by Americans who are paid decent wages.

BTW, I'm not elite by any means. I, unlike you, love my country and want it to succeed. The way to do that is to protect and build American industry.

I know. You're an "aspiring" liberal elite. Already, you can't stand to mingle with the masses that need to stretch every dollar by shopping at Wal-Mart. It makes you feel "low class" and, no doubt, dirty. That's an elitest attitude if there ever was one.

Casting aspersions on my patriotism will get you nowhere. Unlike you, I've shed blood to live free and be an American.

You're the one with an elite attitude. I'm the one who wants to end our evil economic system and replace it with one that values people and justly compensates them for their labor. You want to protect the capitalist elite.

But you have no problem doing that to Democratic veterans.

Your hypocrisy is showing once again.

WAL-MARTs seem to vary in quality. My closest is the dirtiest I have seen. At COSTCO, the store always looks clean, the employees look clean, and the customers look clean.

In other words, you don't have an answer. Carpro, you're the last one who should call someone else immature. There's a reason I don't like you, Aaron, and Matt Wade. It's not your politics. For example, Rbell is a conservative, and sometimes our discussions get a bit heated, but he's a decent Christian gentleman. I don't know him all that well because I only know him online, but he never personally insults me and he's done nice things like send me a PM congratulating me when I got my new job. He's one of my favorite people from this board.

I fully support your right to feel that way. However, keep in mind...if you're on a budget with no margin, and you can save $30 a week on groceries at Wal-mart...where do you think you're going to go?

I find this counterproductive to the progressive's argument about taking care of the poor. Won't inflation hurt the lower class?

In addition..."wages go up" is assuming there are actually jobs to be had. It's more expensive than ever to add jobs now...and with Obamacare and other mandates, it will only get worse.

Wages don't go up when you're unemployed.

Having said all that...buy American! And if you can't buy American...at least lease American with an option to buy...

A wholesale club. My issue with Wal-Mart is more personal than anything. As long as I can remember, those stores have creeped me out. I can't pinpoint what it is exactly; "low class" was a poor choice of words. Of course, if Wal-Mart were the only option, I'd shop there.

Keep in mind I'm not a big fan of Obamacare. You'd probably like my solution even less, but the current plan probably will increase costs. My whole point in this is we need SOME form of trade protection. Part of the reason we have such a high unemployment rate is because of overseas manufacturing.

Thanks for dragging me into something that I wasn't even involved in Paul. I'm sorry if I've hurt your liberal feelings in the past. Maybe you should go cry on grandma's shoulder for a little while and then she can continue supporting you while you act like you are a big boy.
