LOL! Brother Bob you should have left your picture. It got me to wondering if my preacher wore a tie when he baptized me.

Yes, I know it doesn't take much for me to go off on a wild tangent. :D

Didn't see the post!

Do you hold 'em under till they struggle? :saint: knew a preacher who did that. If they hadn't called on the name of Jesus before they went under, they sure had before they walked out of the water!

Never thought to do that, but I did drop one guy. He paniced as soon as he hit the water and fell out of my hands, honest... That my story and I'm sticking to it.

Bro bob, put your picture back up. i was hoping you could make the picture larger. It added character to your post to read them and see you behind the pulpit at the same time. It was like being in a virtual Church.

I like the one of you baptizing also. Question to you and Tiny Tim, doesn't that ruin your suites to wear them in the water? I put on waders and a robe to go in the water.

I usually have a pair of "George" pants from Wal-marts that pretty well match my suit and I carry shoes and towel in car so I change to the Wal-mart trousers to baptize and then go in someone's house and clean up and put suit back on. You notice I tuck my tie in my shirt.

I never thought of any pastor wearing a suit to baptize! Anytime I've seen it done around here, the pastor has a robe on (as does the baptistee) with a bathing suit under it. When we do it at the beach, it's usually a t-shirt over it.

I wear cheap clothes that day... Cheap ties, also extra shoes. I really don't own any clothes that are expensive.. I have never worried about it.

I did have to remind the teens to remove their cell phones from their pockets though! Now there is something Paul or John never had to do!

Great pics, Tim! Was that a snake-handler I saw in one of them? :tongue3:

We baptize almost every Sunday and the pastor shakes hands at the door after he baptizes, so he wears waders and a rubber robe (with pants) that are tucked into the waders.

I remember when my pastor at Columbia PBC, Md., , 160 lbs and 5'5", baptized me, 5'9" and 265 lbs., in water standing in the baptistery, at Lovettsville, Virginia, back in a 30 degrees January day in 1998.

Wow! Those baptisms are sure different from the ones I’ve seen. My church does them in a fiberglass tub with Plexiglas in front of it. Very nice!

Ours does too, but once a year (in the summer) we have 'old fashioned day' where we go to the creek and baptize and have a picnic afterwards. Everyone dresses in period clothes and a good time is had by all!
