The money we spend on illegal immigrants each year would go a long way toward repairing the hurricane damage. I say kick them out, all of them. That would free up some jobs for citizens, unless they are too lazy to work.
Keep in mind that it will take years to repair all the hurricane damage.

Lower taxes would help get rid of illegals in my opinion. As more and more wives were removed from the workplace, the demand for the services provided by illegals would slack off.
Employers do not want to spend money on people who do not want to work or who live in remote areas. I understand that there is a very high rate of unemployment on Indian Reservations. In spite of the high unemployment in Indianapolis, employers outsource work and hire illegals through contractors. The maids in the building where I work tell me that almost all of the maids and janitors in downtown Indianapolis are illegals. -
Most of the roofers where I live are Latino. I assume they are illegal. Georgia, North Carolina, and the area around DC are over run with illegals.

We lowered our population by 40,000,000 with abortion so that now we have a shortage of people to run our nation. Our solution is to import low-paid workers who do not speak our langauge and who are Catholic, the religion that our ancestors came to the USA to escape. We would have been better off with the 40,000,000 native-born citizens who were raised in our culture. Now we have blood on our hands and are stuck with an expensive welfare state and a vast number of illegals that we have no knowledge about. We need to return federal taxes to 10% on the middle class at the most.

Let's just press the "Kick illegals out" button, and viola, all of America's problems are solved.

Hey, I'm all in favor of controlling borders, deporting illegal aliens, and punishing those who hire them. But I get weary of those who blame all of the country's ills on them, as well as those who think there's a "magic button" that will magically make all the illegals and the woes thereby disappear. Perhaps there is such a button in Captain Kirk's quarters in an alternate universe, but not here as far as I know. -
Interesting thing happening here in southwest Ohio. My local union, (roofers) and the Carpenters union are actively recruiting Latinos in the non union side of construction, and having great success. It also seems that these fellows stick together, and once one is recruited, 3 follow. So now the employers who broke the law by hiring them are now screaming and threating them because they want to organize. Aint life great. :D

How did they break the law? I wasn't aware that hiring non-union workers was illegal

The "button" is the US Border Patrol. They probably need a few more hands to help get the job done.
We need to continue to welcome legal immigrants into this country.
We need to find and deport all illegal immigrants.
We need to find and punish anyone who knowingly employs or harbors illegal immigrants.
Many of the illegal immigrants are Mexicans that come here to find work and send money home to their families. I don't blame them personally for doing that but, unfortunately, the manner in which they're doing it is illegal and harmful to our own country.
If not, then we need to stop calling them "illegal" because the term is then meaningless. -

Hmm...wasn't your country started by illegal immigrants? Did the natives have a notarized letter of invitation authorized by Homeland Security to give your "immigrants" the right to set foot on this continent and take up residence?
Did they have the financial resources to "sponsor" your immigrants and if so, was it verified by Homeland Security and the gazillion other departments involved with the work in so graciously granting legal immigrant visas?
Hey, did the natives who had their land stolen strike up coalitions and retaliate with a "war on immigrants"? Maybe they should have eh? Maybe all those illegal immigrants who came over on the Mayflower should have been deported to the penal colony in Australia eh?
Point being, maybe if LEGAL immigration was a little easier to accomplish then POOR people from third world countries would follow the rules, wouldn't they?
All this to say...I'm sick of hearing about "illegal" immigrants. Make it easier for them to get in by the rules, make the rules a little less 'anti-immigrant' and maybe they will follow the rules. But I have a feeling many people are against immigrants entirely and couch it in the "illegal" immigrant phrase. :( -
Hey James,
I agree with that to a point. How many would be left in Mexico (for example) if we really did that? But I did say in a very early post something about what if the indians had that same feeling of closed borders. one big problem I think for some is these people do not pay taxes, yet can get gov. paid medical care. they have the benifits of being here but send most of the money they do make back to Mexico. I don't have an answer but think something better than what is happening now needs to be done. -

Just want to clarify that it isn't the sending money back that is a problem, but the not paying taxes to contribute to benefits.
