The number #1 book to read is the Bible and I plan to read the entire OT if possible. However besides that its very important to get into books. Theology, commentaries, and may I also say evangelism? Below are my suggested books to read.
1. Heaven & Hell--Edward Donnelly---Develop a passion for the lost by understanding what Hell is and the destination of many.
2. Tell the Truth Will Metzger
3. The fifth Gospel Bobby Conway
4. Find it quick handbook on cults and new religions--Ron Rhodes----Are you evangelizing and defending the faith against the false churches in your area? Are you sending letters? Are you meeting with leaders of false churches? What are you doing to defend the faith that was once delivered to the saints?
What books will you read this new year?

Aside from Scripture, I hope to move the second and third volumes of Manchester's The Last Lion off of my to read shelf.
Anything else that I read is based on the mood that strikes. -
There won't be any authored by Joel Osteen.
The guy got his hiney caught in da' ringer.

I wonder what's it's like to live in a man made mansion?
His net worth is estimated at $40 million, and he reportedly lives in a 17,000 square-foot Houston mansion valued at $10.5 million. The home has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, three elevators, five fireplaces, a guest house and pool house. Wow... -

A round of applause for Evan who finally linked us to his book ideas!!! Way to go, brother!
I have quite a few on my "to read" list. I'm going to finish what I have started in 2014 of course: Child's Biblical Theology of the OT and NT, Vangemeren's Progress of Redemption, and Van Til's Defense of the Faith.
When I move back to the states and have access to my library and others, I'm going to read: NT Wright's Climax of the Covenant & Paul and the Faithfulness of God, Gombis's Drama of Ephesians, and Pennington's Heaven and Earth in the Gospel of Matthew. If my prof finishes his book on Revelation (from the Zondervan Bib Theo of the NT series), then I'll add that to the list. -
I started reading Kingdom through Covenant at the beginning of December and I hope to finish by the end of January.
2016.
Maybe...
I've got a shelf full and a kindle app full of books to read, I'm not yet sure what's next.
I'm also wanting to finish Desiring God sometime before I die... -
Currently finishing up on two
When Your World Falls Apart----by David Jeremiah

I bought a new chronological bible ... this one is also a study bible. It's not a daily bible like my other chronological one. I'll just read daily how much I can and can digest.
I want to re-read Beth Moore's When Godly People Do Ungodly Things and Breaking Free before the year is out.
But first, I want to read C. S. Lewis' The Abolition of Man. It was on my list last year and I didn't get to it, so it's first on my list for this year. -
Rolf, Joel Osteen is perhaps a great "Motivational Speaker" but he's not a Pastor and he should not hide behind a Church. I still wouldn't buy his book.
Too old to get motivated. :tongue3: -

That isn't motivating .... it's enabling.
A truly good motivational speaker should stir the listener to prune his or her own hedge and weed his or her own garden and work hard to make this life more productive. -

Scarlett O., you're spot on. I mean, he is a motivator of sorts but this rubbish being dished out that God desires for us to, as you said, "sit back and watch God take care of all their needs", is but hogwash.
If that was the case there would be no need to plant, then to, or to reap. -
Osteen would do well pitching teeth whitening kits.

Yes, Sir!!! Many of McArthur's "new" works are really revisions of his old ones!:flower::flower: -
I've still got so many on my shelf that are half-way read and I need to finish up.
Here are a few that I've added for 2015.
The Lion of Princeton: B. B. Warfield as Apologist and Theologian. Kim Riddlebarger, Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press. (2014).
The Early Prophets: Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings: The Schocken Bible, Volume II. Everett Fox (Translator) (November 2014).
Strong As Death Is Love: The Song of Songs, Ruth, Esther, Jonah, and Daniel, A Translation with Commentary. Robert Alter (Translator) W. W. Norton & Company, (March 2, 2015).
In the Beginning . . . We Misunderstood: Interpreting Genesis 1 in Its Original Context. Johnny Miller and John Soden. Kregel (2012).

I am thinking about T McComsky and the his work on the Minor Prophets of the OT.
I also want to read some BB Warfield as well--vastly underappreciated IMHO -
