John chapter 8
This of course is about the woman caught in adultery.
What do you think Jesus wrote in the Sand?
Why do you think that Scripture does not tell us what Jesus wrote?

I don't think Jesus wrote anything, he was checking out their hearts, while ignoring them... He knew they were all guilty... He finally answered... It wasn't the answer they were expecting
John 8 : 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Then he stooped down and went back to writing on the ground...
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
And you know the rest of the story... Brother Glen:)

The Bible doesn't say.
BUT he could have been writing down the laws they were breaking in trying to get Him to break the law.
"The witnesses will be the first ones to cast stones."
Deut.
17:7
"Bring the man who commits adultery and the woman."
Lev. 20:10

The names of those present who had committed adultery. Why else would they drop their rocks and leave?

I love that!
I never thought of it before.
Of course, I have no idea whether it's right or not, but I'd like to think it is.

How does merely writing their names link them to adultery?
And they all left, not just some.
Now, if he wrote down the names of those they were with…

By their own guilty conscience.
The eldest (supposedly wisest) left first.
The younger apparently figured if the wisest left, they had best leave also.

In that case the hypothesis seems rather weak at best. But since we know not, and the text implies no answer, one is free to choose it, if he wishes.

To my understanding he just ignored them and let their conscious do the work... He didn't address the woman until they all left... Brother Glen:)
John 8 : 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Yes, Jesus set the bar.
They would have had to claim they were without sin, not just that one, to follow through.
