There were no WMDs.
There were no ties between Iraq and the 9/11 attacks. Ties between Iraq and Al Queda are tentative at best.
Over 1000 brave US soldiers, heroes in my mind, are dead in Iraq.
Saddam Hussein is in jail.
Seems like a pretty expensive arrest to me.
What bad man do we send our young people after next?
What do we do now?

Welcome to the neo-con foriegn policy.
-
And even worse, are they going to draft my sons and my daughter to do it?
-
Of course...you don't think they plan on sending theirs, do you?
-
If the economy is bad enough, and wages are low enough, then poor young people will often have little choice but to join the military.
And there will be a subclass of Americans who fight and die for us. And that is wrong.
If we go to war, then the burden should fall on all Americans. That is how we avoid unnecessary wars. When every American has to decide whether or not the war is worth their children dying for, we will have fewer foreign adventures for false reasons. -
C4 K?
Which Eire do you hail from?
If it's the one of the flag you sport...
You would be incortrect to even be involved in the debate or worry about Bush drafting your sons and daughters...
Further, the draft bill was sponsored ONLY by two Democrats and was recently soundly defeated in the House.... One of whom wouldn't even vote for it when it came up for a vote... -
-
Rangel and several co-sponsors said they introduced the bill primarily to raise awareness of who makes up most of the volunteer army and to stimulate debate about the administration's military and economic policies.
This bill was only to force both Bush and Kerry to discuss the issue of the draft, as they have been avoiding it.
If we continue the Bush doctrine of "riding the world of evil" and hunting down monters to remove them from power, we will eventually have no choice but to re-instate the draft to keep enough troops for the Bush world domination quest. -
I think that gives me cause for concern. My profile says "from" as in posting from - not "citizenship."

Vietnam proved that even with a draft, the well-to-do and well-connected manage to get deferments (because of "other" priorities) or get into the National Guard.
Of course, the National Guard would be out for those because the Guard actually goes to war now. -
RockRambler---draft deferments and junk like you mentioned was going on waaaaaaay before Vietnam!

You guys know that the draft was voted down, with only two votes for it, right ? And you know those two votes for it were from democrats, right ?
What we do now is the same as we were. We do what we did in Germany, and Japan. We create democracies out of tyrannies. And we pray for our leaders.
There is no draft, folks. -
said that some 1400 yearly deaths are
attributed in the USofA to alcohol poisoning.
About half these are underage (20 or less).
These young adults die totally useless
deaths. At least the US soldier in Iraq
dies enforcing the American foriegn policy.
BTW, i've been around for 12 elections.
In October of each election the rumor
of the demise of the Social Security is
told to delude the elderly.
When there is no draft, the rumor of draft
is used to delude the parents.
When there is a draft, the rumor of drafting
women is used to delude the parents.
It is a normal last month UNTRUE ploy.
Caveat: My son is 22 Years old.
He abstains from alcohol. -
I note for the last 59 years we have
had occupying military in Germany
and Japan. Get ready for the long haul
folks, in 2064 we will have military in Iraq
(If the LORD tarries). -
In the former wars you mentioned the US was either attacked, or directly threatened. Even in Europe we did not invade Germany unitl the very end - we assisted allies.
In Iraq we launched a pre-emptive strike on, at best, faulty intellegence because we did not like the leader,a brutal tyrant.
The draft question was not totally off topic, if we are going to "take out" all of the "bad guys" in the world, then a draft will be required to do so.
My question remains,if our only requirement to attack a nation is that the world would be better off without their leader, where wil we stop? -

Well now, that's a great question. But right now, there is no draft, or plans to implement one.
I believe it ALL boils down to one thing. U.S. support for Israel. My bible tells me that in the end, all nations will rise up against her. And just when it looks like it's all over, Israel will repent, and Christ will descend and save her. (Seriously paraphrased).
Bush looks lile he will continue to support Israel.
I don't know where it will end, but one thing erevrybody should agree on, is that Israel is safer without Sadaam. Iran is a huge concern. But now, we all know where the U.N. and it's corrupt buddies, like France, China, and Russia, stand on Israel. They do not want her to be able to defend herself. So we NEED to make a stand.
I wasn't alive in WWII, but I seem to remember some history teachers telling me that the world was very upset at us that we didn't go to war until after Pearl Harbour.
And it is very apparant, that we would be at war with Iraq anyways, given the statements from the likes of Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, et all, they all wanted him removed. Bush just did what everybody else wished they did.
Wish I could word it more eloquently for you, but I'm very convinced that we did the right thing, and I am very proud that our nation thumbed their nose at the anti-Israel posture of the corrupt U.N. and our alleged allies.
We have true allies, who recognize a threat when they see them. Thank God for them. -
Where do you find that the UN doesn't want Israel to defend itself? The UN is on record through a significant pile of resolutions, perhaps as many as any other issue, recognizing Israel's right to exist, and defend itself.
WWII isn't a legitimate comparison. Of course the British, who were at the end of their rope in 1940-41, wanted America in the war. However, they had repudiated their war debts from WWI and most Americans felt that it was their stupidity in the aftermath of WWI that caused the rise of Hitler and the second war. We were also working through the thoughts about which ideology--communism or nazism--was the greater of two evils.
WIth the evidence absolutely clear, Iraq was not a weapons threat and did not have any connection to Al Qaeda, Bush made the wrong decision. With Iran and North Korea both potentially deadlier enemies and our troops tied down in Iraq, we're less secure than we were before. -

but its not like your Bible jumped out and told you that... you're accepting one of many 'possible' prophetic perspectives and you've built your house of justification on it.
Good luck.
