Would that be a goodone to purchase?
What Do you think of getting KJV/2011 NIV Bible?

I wouldn't buy it --but opinions may vary depending on ... -
Do you own any Bibles with comparsion versions side by side?
or interlinears? -

I think, interlinears assist in raising the confidence level that the translators and translations are actually following a text. They can help with learning the ancient languages. I have interlinears for the TR and CT. -
I have a NASB/NIV parallel. It utilizes the old NIV. The print is rather small. I enjoy using it though.

I've got little use for the KJV. I'd rather have the NRSV or NASB in it's place. They're way better.

It would be just as pointless as having The Message side-by-side with the NIV. The KJV is a completely different animal --but why the need for something like that? It makes no sense.
On the other hand,KJV enthusiasts could exclaim:"Oh so that's what that means. I've always wondered about that." ;) -
The interesting thing is, when he preaches (and I have confirmed this); he will often read a verse in the KJV and then say, "Now that means. . . blah, blah, blah." 9 times out of ten he uses the words the NIV uses. Whether it is simply that the NIV explains it better or he is a closet NIV I don't know, but he is too KJVO from the pulpit to do that. I think. I think he is a pretty good Christian man, he just has a problem with that bit of man-made theology and I have no doubt that is his biggest problem from the pulpit and if it were not for that I might consider joining his church, but I can't see that as long as I cannot carry a Bible I want to read into the church; and I don't just out of respect for the church. They have a right to believe what they want.
He went so far as to ask a missionary from China if the Chinese Bible was the KJV and the missionary said, no its just in the Chinese language. The pastor then said, well I would have problems being a missionary there, I would be holding a KJV below the table. Then he asked the missionary why someone can't take the KJV and translate it into Chinese.
The missionary answered well by saying that they would have to translate from the same manuscripts from Greek and Hebrew that were used in the KJV and therefore it would be too much of a project.
This is the first pastor I have seen who is really KJVO and it was quite a shock when he said the other modern versions all come from Satan. It is obvious he has read Ripplinger's stuff and I guess they are teaching the KJVO in the Bible college over in Arkansas where I think he went to school. He brings this Bible up every single worship service along with how liberal all the SBC churches in town are. He would have no idea, he is in a church that has less than 100 members while there are many SBC's ranging from slightly liberal to very conservative. -

My son already has an NIV/KJV parallel, uses it all the time - For the record, he prefers the KJV.
