Do you sin in secret? Do you know if you sin in secret?
What exactly are "secret sins"?

Jesus specifically mentioned several.
-
Some of my sins have been secret. And I'm not going to tell you what they were, either!
-
I have many sins that are between me and God. With any luck, they'll stay that way!!!
-
I don't mean sin that is done in secret.
-
My opinion:
Question 1 - Yes. They are unintentional and you don't know you did them, but due to your lack of concern for others (for example) they were done.
Question 2 - Yes, if the Holy Spirit points it out to you. -
In my opinion, we all have sinned secret sins. In addition to sins we "know" we are guilty of, we are guilty of other sins because we aren't even aware they are sins (unknown to us). This could be because of ignorance or even having a wrong opinion of something not being sinful. I'm not trying to sound confusing..... :(
-
Let's see......how can we convert this to an argument....oh, was I thinking aloud again? -
If PTW tells us we're still wrong, we'll have an argument, okay? ;)

Secret sins....well,this can be as a result of having a wrong view of scripture,or a wrongful view of God,which I don't know if this is considered secret sins or just ignorance as some have mentioned....I know there are sins that are very personal, maybe only I know about them, such as attitudes that are ungodly, but these seems to always manifest themselves and show up to others in one way or another....my husband sure can spot them! Pride is probably a big secret sin,so secret many do not even know they have it....it is subtle but sooo ugly.
Just my thoughts!

Jesus addressed some of them. They are usually very well masked. I would say they are intentional more times than not.

Matthew 5
There are plenty others. This discussion could extend throughout the N.T. Don't confine it to the words of Christ. -
Did you mean sins that are hidden from people? If that is what you mean...then yes, you can hide sin from people...but no, you can't hide sin from God. He's Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omninicient... and the Holy Spirit resides within us.

Here are two examples:
Matthew 5:21-22
21 You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'
22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.
The sin is murder. The secret sin is hate for another. Is this you?
Matthew 5:33-34
33 "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.'
34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne.
The sin is lying. The secret sin is promises that you never intend to keep. Is this you?
Behind many commands are implications for secret sins. Search the Scripture for admonitions to do righteousness. Then, consider why such a command is given. -
This is very true and I think we should always be examining ourselves. Secret sins are probably oftened justified in the hearts because of pride, not because of a knowledge of scriptures. With a true understanding of scripture,we could really dig deep and indentify attitudes of the heart that are truly ungodly.

I was taught that believers Do Not Sin. The one
definition of sin used in that church was "he
who knows to do good and doeth it not, to him
it is sin." Other biblical definitions werre passed
over, because they added to this definition and
confused the issue.
In order to believe this idea, one must not only
close their eyes to the sins of others, but one
must also ignore one's own conscience. I was
taught to do that well. Imagine my surprise,
then, when in spite of myself, I began to under-
stand.
Such an understanding shatters many ideas
and securities. Nothing will ever be the same
again. But then a fuller understanding of the
mercy of our God fills up and begins to heal
those shattered parts, and a new more humble
walk with the Lord begins.
Many who believe in Christian perfection think
that when the believer embraces this concept,
they throw caution to the wind and sin joyously.
Not quite. 8o) Putting sin into this perspective
does the opposite: in making one more aware
of their imperfection, it makes one more sure
of their need of our God and of His mercy and
forgiveness; it puts that one one her/his knees
far more than before.
