I guess the point is why join a Baptist Church if your not going to be baptized / dunked? Or why would a Baptist Church allow someone in if they don’t want to participate in their ritual?
They would be part of the true Body of Christ, regardless how baptized if saved, so why not? We only require immersed in being church members formally!
Same as parents influencing their young kids to be baptized... knowing all the time they are not prepared for it, that they probably brain washed them. I’ve seen that happen time and again. Years later they want nothing to do with the church.
Steve I am glad you brought that up... This will allow me to post one of my preacherisms that I have collected over the years... I heard an Old Line Baptist preacher say... If the subject to be baptized isn't regenerated before the are immersed in the baptismal waters then go in a dry devil and come out a wet one... Brother Glen:eek:
In our church we do not pressure members or others tp give.
We don't have collocetion plates, but a box on the wall at the back labelled THE LORD'S TREASURY.
We don't have an envelope system and only the two who count the money and the treasurer will know who pay by cheque and only the treasurer will know who pays directly into the bank.
It is no one elses business.
Not using an envelope system - could be
a problem -
the IRS may not accept checks for proof of giving.
(That really is the only reason to use envelopes)
Also, is it the same two people who count the money - or is there a rotation -of a few individuals.
We have only 2 people who pay by cheque one is one of those who usually
counts the money, the other is the treasurer.
(I know because I used to be the treasurer until recently.)
All the others for whom we can
claim tax relief, pay by direct transer to our bank,
The I.R. (Inland Revenue) can ask to see our accounts
after we claim, but they never have, so far.
