A lighter look at some hot topics. :)

Just wondered which topics generate the most responses. (Not which are necessarily the most important.)

I couldn't answer, as I see too much bias in your question.

    Thanks Dorthy. :)

The whole calvinism debate gets me going. The others I'll discuss but they don't seem to get me as much or as often as calvnism/free will etc. :)

I don't fool with the Calvin stuff... too many minds set in stone to be a discussion.

I tangle some with the KJVO crowd, but not like I used to. Again, minds set in stone (as well as a few hearts). Which is sad, really...

CCM creates quite a stir, which is stupid in my opinion. Tradition is just that, tradition. It is something that will change over time. But many act like tradition is gospel. Geez!

The only threads that get to me are the ones where no one seems to be listening to the other people and then they start talking in circles and then they start questioning someone else's salvation or committment or devotion.

Well, those and the ones about aliens

I voted for all of these topics. Too bad there weren't more options.

Re: Traditions ..... I don't know who it was that came up with this, but to that person these are The Seven Last Words of the Church:

We Never Did It That Way Before!

    Can I get an amen?

I don't know, gekko. I think the BB would be a pretty dead place without some of these topics.
It seems to take topics like these to get people to post.
For one thing, they are concrete. It is easier to have an opinion on ties than on supralapsarianism.

Believe me, I have been the last poster on a number of threads over the years. But I don't say things in a style that provokes much response.
And many, many other threads die out with zero, one, or two posts.
Quite often it is the "irritating" topics that people actually read and respond to. Note the Sanderson threads. What we say we want and what we actually do can be different from each other. :tongue3:

My pet peeve is not a topic per se, but when a poster who has thousands of posts tells a newcomer that the topic is stale and has been too often discussed. Well, then let the newcomers discuss it. It is a discussion board.

It has always been dresses and hair, usually quite legalistic and self righteousness, judging people's relationship with God and their salvation if they do not conform to the opinions of man.

No topics really irritate me, although some posters make me feel like I am beating my head against the wall. But then, it feels soooo good when I stop!

Probably all of them in a way if there is no end in sight to the topic being discussed or debated. If it starts to look like verbally Sarge beating up Beatle Bailey  or if the posts get to be ten miles long. :sleeping_2:

The only irritating thing about CCM discussions is the failure to realize this is the very same music the world loves.

Reminds me of the guy who challenged anyone to a dog fight to bring their dog on! Guy shows up with this fat white "dog" with short legs. In one chomp consumed the braggert's pooch. The exclaimation, "What kind of dog is that?"

"Well, before I cut his tail off and painted him white, he was an alligator!"

That's the same as CCM: it's "painted" with the Gospel, and it's "tail"/ identifying traits, are overlooked because it looks as if something's missing. (the influence of the flesh, which is not missing in CCM):praying:

Well, if that were the case, and it's not, then what you said is true, and it's not.

The ideals of hair and dress are to represent holiness, of which most Christians today dont have any idea of what holiness is. All they know is what they think they know.:praying:

For me it's the KJVO arguments. When people put the 1611 KJV equal to, or above God, it irks me (see one of Sanderson's essays)

    most irritating topic!

This is of all the very best thread!
Really nails where the lines of division are!

Just makes me wonder whether anyone ever changes course, learns something or feels a difference in their life from anything they read or wrote on these boards!:praise:
