What were you before you became a Baptist?
A heathen, barbarian, J.W., Mormon, Catholic, Lutheran, or what?
What were you?

A heathen I guess. Grew up in Baptist Church. Mom carried me to the nursery where I screamed for my older twin brothers (they were 15 years old than I was because their father was killed at the army base in an explosion). Mom said I would scream for my brothers, but not mom and dad. (She thought it was cute.) They spoiled me rotten.
Anyway, grew up in Baptist church, thought I was saved at 9. About thirteen on I knew better, but wouldn't do anything about it. dropped out of church when I went to college. Later became a real Christian and returned to church. Thank goodness my brother's were Christians, the oldest of the twins died of a heart-attack during a vacation. (Major shock). The second, being an identical twin is having problems.
Anyway, I have never been anywhere but in a Baptist environment. -
Heathren here to, but only til I was seven! :D

I was born into a Southern Baptist family and in church from 2 weeks old. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior at 8 years old. I've NEVER been another denomination but did have to attend an American Baptist church during Jim's army years and when we lived in Connecticut when there were no SBC's around.

I was in a Campbellite church until I married my husband 19 years ago. I was baptized at age 9, but had no peace in my heart. Was taught baptism would take care of it all. I would always bargain with God: 'I'm sorry, Lord. I know I sinned. I promise never to do it again.'
I was married to my husband 4 years (and we had a one-year-old daughter) when God bean to deal with my heart.

Wow, here is my list:
Infant Baptism (Christened) into the Episcopal Church.
Confirmed into the Lutheran Church at 25
Tried to be a Seventh-Day Adventist(because that was what hubby was at one time), but they wouldnt take me
Then we joined a half-way Church for X-SDA, and it was there that I was really Baptised...!!
Then that Church folded (how can you be X-anything??) and I started looking around for what to be next..
I checked out a bunch of books at the Library and read up on all the denominations. That is how I figured out I should be a Baptist.
A friend found a good Baptist Church, I joined and have been Baptist ever since!! -

West,
I attended the Pastor's class to join the church. I was in a class with 4 other people. I left every class in tears because things were said that could only apply to me. My appearance, what kind of car we drove....whatever the "sin of the day". The Pastor told me that "we" (meaning hubby who was already a member there) were just too materialistic.
So, they loose out and all you Baptists get me <grin> -
A little boy.
I was raised in the same church that I joined in 1991 and of which I am still a member. -

Gib, both my birth parents were Democrats. My father has since seen the light. My mother is still hopelessly lost in their lies! Of course, we were all born in Alabama. ;)

Dad was a "backslidden" Mormon
Mom was lost. She got saved and started going to a Baptist Church. Dad went back to the Mormon church. Us kids had to go to both churches - one every-other Sunday. Finally we ALL quit going b/c my parents were headed for divorce because of it. (Mormons encouraged my Dad to leave and find another wife who would "comply". Then years later, God saved us all, and we became Baptist. Deep down for me, I am Baptist because I had to dig into Scripture to see what the "truth" was.
