When did the world at large start hating America?

It is in our fallen nature to dislike and hate each other, we all share that same temptation.

Heavenly Father, I thank Thee for the liberty and blessings we have enjoyed in this nation - the United States of America.We know there are flaws in our national character and we pray that You will mend and restore us to what You want our nation to be.

Lord, we know that some of us on this board are residents of and loyal to other nations and we pray that our brotherhood as fellow christians will not be shaken by mere national loyalties.

Lord, we pray that in all things in all nations Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

 

At some point in time, perhaps seen more prominent beginning in the 1960’s, A popular, wave of thought of socialism and appeasement was beginning to be embraced around the world, especially Europe. I seems as though the elite academia and the press serve as a catalyst for this kind of thought. The US appears to be a hold-out to this kind of thought. And thus, any resistance to this kind of “world view” is countered with hate rhetoric that grows like fire.

Funny, I know many Europeans and Canadians that have none of this hatred. When I hear statements such as “US Imperialism, war for oil, or general hate speech against Bush”, I can only attribute it to “parrot-talk” perpetuated by the press and universities.

I don’t agree with all US policy, or with my free-thinking friends outside the US. But the parrot-talkers are of no consequence to me.

 

Oh, the haters are out there. Watch the news today, not the US news of course, but news from other countries will no doubt carry stories on Bush's trip to Denmark, where there is an expected 20,000 protestors waiting to hate

In fact I would say that the other way around makes much more sense from my perspective.
If I was the Dutch PM I would go out of my way to proclaim that my country is no friend of the loon that currently heads the US empire (TM)...
Meanwhile I would take on Islamic terrorism as vigorously as possible, supplying the US with information and resources whenever needed.
Islamic terrorism is potentially a very serious threat to the Netherlands, so something has to be done about it, but appearing on the list of close allies of the US actually aggravates the threat for the Netherlands, so the USA officially has to be kept at arms length.
