IFB, but there are several subdivisions of them too... By the way, what's a Primitive Baptist?

I didnt even know there was more than one kind of Baptist until I joined this group! I was already firmly grounded in SBC, but didn't know the differences. 2 of my grandsons were Baptised in an IFB and now I like going there.

patrioticcamerican, sorry for the delay, but I haven't visited this thread in over a week.
Primitive Baptists first separated themselves, largely and officially, from Missionary Baptists in 1832- see The Black Rock Address
Please also see Frequently Asked Questions about the Primitive Baptists to understand some more of our theological differences from most modern-day Baptist groups.
Basically, I like to tell people, in a nutshell, think of the difference between you now and your grandparents or great-grandparents and you should get a pretty simple understanding of how a Southern Baptist church relates to a Primitive Baptist church. Primitives are all about simplicity and plainness.
Hope these links answer your questions.

Independent Baptist and Biblical Fundamentalist with no use for Rick Warren social psychology (man's winsdom, no thanks), compromise, or using the world in the church to bring the world to church.
