As far as I remember, since December 3, 2014 we have Eric Garner, the Cleveland 12 year old (12/12/14), and this one today. By my count that is three incidents of over use of power ending in the death of a suspect by police. And this means, that in five months, there have been 3 horrible deaths of blacks by cops, and when you consider the size of this nation, the number of cops; the number of criminal incidents taking place every day; etc., three deaths does not equal a "serious problem!" If it were three deaths in a day, or in one week maybe I'd say maybe you are correct. But right now, I'd say this proves that police have a few bad apples, and they need to be sought out and removed before they harm any more individuals, regardless of color.

316 people have been killed by cops since Jan. 1, 2015 in the USA, for whatever reason. That is 3.2 per day .

From your source:
Corporate news reports of people killed by nonmilitary law enforcement officers, whether in the line of duty or not, and regardless of reason or method.
Inclusion implies neither wrongdoing nor justification on the part of the person killed or the officer involved. The post merely documents the occurrence of a death.

Yes, that's why I said "316 people killed by cops, for whatever reason".

Just clarifying for those that never read the source.
I found it odd that it included even "off duty" killings.
Not sure if that means not in the line of duty or just "off duty".
Seems there would be a difference.

But I thought your point dwells on blacks alone.

No....a black man is dead because a white racist bushwacker took unfair advantage of the situation.

Rev Mitchell - haven't you heard - Judge Zaac has ruled the cop is a convicted murderer. And he based his decision on al the facts and evidence.
Now, if you were a LEO.....

That's not what the video says or shows.
The video that actually shows something, shows Officer Slager to be a manipulator of a crime scene and a liar. It would be rather difficult at this point for anyone who is shown that video during court proceedings to trust anything he has to say.
Good luck to his attorneys in finding people who haven't seen the video or heard about it.

He IS a murderer as billions have seen. And he should be convicted as such.

Nice attempt. But it should be murder and that's what he's been charged with. I don't think they've decided a degree yet. But if they've got any sense, the DAs will not agree with a manslaughter charge.
They are sitting on a powder keg and they know it.
Other officers, including his Police Chief, across the nation have even spoken against him, which is rare in itself.

Now I understand - a conviction should be based on a power keg - not on facts

The FACTS show a cop shooting a fleeing man in the back. The conviction should be based upon that.
So no conviction, expect the powder keg to explode.

Based ONLY on what I've seen (and I'm not claiming that's all there was to the incident), I think a murder 2 charge would be appropriate.
Murder 1 would probably require the prosecution to establish that the LEO made the stop with an intent to kill the driver.
Looks more like the unjustified (IMO) use of deadly force was an on-the-fly decision.

I agree. And after the video I heard this morning where the officer is being told what to expect next and him laughing,

It's rather disturbing because they are calmly discussing this and the next steps as though this happens or has happened quite a bit.

Doesn't excuse the shooting but does provide mitigating factors not revealed before.
It will more than likely lower the charge somewhat.
Good find.
Thanks.

If
he had not run, he would be alive now.
Does anyone know why he did?
I have seen no proof the officer involved is a racist. Do you have something I haven't seen that justifies this charge?
