...if it turns out, which is looking more and more likely, that out of 1 million people in the immediate area of Katrina, there are less than 500 deaths?
Other than God, of course !
Who will we praise...

God and the Weather Channel.

I vote for God!

Of course God...certainly not Bush... ;)
Of course...another good question that would go along with the politics forum format and also bring some theology into question is "Who would we blamed if the death toal turns out to be catastrophic (tens of thousands)? God? Bush? Ariel Sharon for caving to Bush's pressure to hand over Gaza to the Palestinians?

Praise God for life!
I vote for Ariel Sharon and the Gaza thingy if the death numbers are huge :D -
I praise God also, no need for a poll on this topic.

Frankly, we should thank God for everything. We should thank Him for our temporal salvation that gives us a bit longer on this earth to do His will. We should also thank Him for our adversity that give us an opportunity to give honor and glory to His name and remind us of just how small we really are.
There are among those who've survived many chosen children of God in need of help as they seek to focus their lives perhaps differently than before this disaster visited them and perhaps in a manner that will serve Him better.
There are urgent physical needs begging to be met but there are also deep spiritual needs. By our small acts of kindness, concern, and help perhaps we may show others how Christians believe and practice. Those acts, hopefully, will be done for the purpose of giving Him the honor and glory of it. This is a tremendous opportunity.
Even snappy grumpy mean old goats like me can give it a shot! -
How about praise to:
President Bush for proclaiming a state of emergency early.
State and local officials for calls for evacuation.
Evacuation buses that went through the city Saturday and Sunday.
The emergency services, National Guard, Coast Guard, and others who were on the scene early.
Relief services like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Southern Baptists and others who began their work the day the storm hit.
How many other countries could have sustained a major hit like this will a such relatively low death toll? Even the loss of one life is tragic, but the toll was small considering the population of the area.
Folks, this could have been A LOT worse!! -
What officially is the current toll?

A little over 400 for the entire Gulf Coast.

Donald Rumsfeld. The only one whose department was totally ready and capable of performing when called upon.
