RIght on!
Put another way, because He said so and He is God and we are not!
Why not sin?

So the Holy Spirit doesn't convict you everytime you sin? Jesus says otherwise:
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
To say that the Holy Spirit doesn't convict of sin every time, is in all essence, calling Jesus a liar. If He allows ANY sin to go without conviction, then He is not guiding you as He promised He will. -
Linda, do you agree with your husband that the first commandment does not apply to Jesus Christ?
If so then why should I consider ANYTHING you say?
But at anyrate, I see nothing in the verses you posted that would imply a magical revelation every time I sin.
God has revealed Himself and His law in the Bible.
Since we all have incomplete knowledge of the Bible then only God truly knows our hearts.
The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it? -
Dale, I misunderstood your question earlier.
Yes I do think God convicts us everytime we sin. Why wouldn't He? It's part of our sanctification is it not? He doesn't want us to sin, but to be conformed to the image of Christ. -
I think not. -
Why else would hte Psalmist say "search me o God! and Know my Heart"
-

Not an instantaneous act that gives us some sort of feeling that we sinned every-time we do it. -

Earth to Linda and SFIC:
It is possible to disagree with you without calling God a liar! -
Scripture states that God chastens His sons. If any endure not chastening then they are bastards and not sons.
When a child of God sins, God is going to convict. If no conviction, well... Hebrews 12:6,7 says it all. -
I am not denying that God chastens His children.
I am merely saying that we do not know the depths of our own depravity.
We do not even comprehend how sinful we really are.
We do not know how wicked out hearts are and "feeling lousy" is not an accurate measurement of our sinful condition. -
Dale-c said:Actually, I am beginning to think that disagreeing with Linda/SFIC is what constitutes calling God a liar since they throw that accusation around rather freely.

YOu are in error but that is not heretical.
When you say the first commandment does not apply to Christ, that is heretical.
So, please answer my question:
Does disagreeing with your interpretation of the Bible mean that I or anyone else is calling God a liar? -
The closer I get to God in my walk with Him, the more sinful I see myself...
His perfect light reveals my flaws...
flaws that I didn't know I had 10 yrs ago.
It seems like I get one flaw fixed, and before long God is revealing something else I need to work on. -

ANd you didn't get some "feeling" immediately ten years ago that you were in sin did you?
Over time Christ is molding you and making you since you are HIS workmanship. -

Dale-c, all along the Spirit convicts of sin, but the believer overtime, becomes stronger and stronger.Click to expand...
There is a constant process I will agree but I do not think we know instantly each and every time we sin.
