IT is estimated that 25% of ifb church members are to some extent KJVO. They have been duped, of course, but faithfully believe it and bombarded with name calling if they dare to believe something else.

Visit the Versions Forum and watch the posts of precepts, AA et al to see the intimidation of the strong "only" position toward anyone who might even think about using anything but the KJV.

God draws people to Himself, Not any Bible translation! Sadly there are many who are caught up in the KJV Only crowd, and it is sad to see the harsh words and hate that they will resort to if it is questioned in anyway. I even had an IFB pastor tell me one time that I was not really saved, because my Mom told me about Jesus using the NIV Bible.

I have seen people wearing t'shirts bearing words like "KJV only is the only way to be". It is odd to me that they are promoting the translation as opposed to the fact that it is Jesus.

Well, at least a church proclaiming on their sign or on other visible means that they are KJVO is at least honest.
Not like some folks who don't even admit to a denominational preference in their name, leaving you to ponder what their beliefs and practices might be.

If I was looking for a new church and saw an ad or sign for one that promotes the fact they're KJVO it would do me one favor - It would make me eliminate them from consideration, and I'll never set foot in their church. They should realize that pushing this fact probably drives away more people than it actually reaches, but then all they want to reach with a statement like that is other KJVOs. Never mind how many people that it might actually repel.

I am 100% KJV call me anything you like but that's just how it is. I would not dare join or continue to go to a church that was not KJVO!

One note: I really have disdain for churches that advertise "AV1611" and then DON'T USE IT! They use one of the KJV revisions.

If they want to use it only, God bless 'em (I'll stay far away). But false advertizing is not right.

(I see many of the Sword of the Lord ads for churches are either changing to say KJV and not AV1611 or eliminating any reference to their KJVO status.)

I sometimes appreciate churches that advertise KJV only...it tells me to stay away from them. I don't want to bother them and their walk and I want to be bothered.

They are alot better than other churches that hold certain presuppositions but don't advertise them.

Dr. Bob's comment got me laughing because I know its true.

Why don't we just limit two forums to BB and name them "KJVO Bashing" and "The Passion" forums?

Glad to see the moderator's bias bleeds so profusely into many other threads and in different forums all the while defamation is his cause. Touch the Hem of His Garment and be healed of this bloody flux.

I have to agree with jhickman on this one.

I was offered a youth minister position with a church a couple of months back. Everything seemed fine, until The pastor ley me know that the KJV would be the only bible I would be allowed to use since it IS God's only bible. I turned the position down.

I would rather a church be honest up front. They would still be wrong, of course, but at least they would be honest about it.

If I am duped as you claim, at least I know that it was by the Holy Spirit as God answered my cries to Him to know the truth regarding the Bible version issue.

One should go instead to the Versions forum for the laughs provided by the crowd that "defends" the corrupt, watered down, newer versions.

I still love ya, Precepts (or whatever you prefer to be called this week...that was a FRIENDLY jibe).

Maybe, maybe not. But I prefer to teach what the will of God is, not what translation it should be read out of.

Nothing wrong with the KJV, but it is not the only bible which contains all of God's truth [this is not really the place to debate/argue this particular topic].

Well I was going to report that ugly jibe but about 5 others beat me to it!

I agree with you, Trotter and I'm glad you stood up for your beliefs even if it cost you a job.

Thanks, Diane.

I'm not worried about it. I am still with Coca-Cola, so we aren't going to starve (but I could probably stand to for a few months...).

I know that the Lord will place me where I need to be, and I know that He will not place me in a position where I would have to teach a man-made tradition as truth.

Trotter, I'll add you to my prayers! I'm a great believer in the importance of our Youth Ministers! Ours is such a blessing and a good friend too even tho I'm old enough to be his Mom!

Trotter, I admire you for making the right choice and standing by your convictions, rather than trying to come in and subversively undermine the position of the church in question.

I also admire the pastor of said church for being up front and firm in his convictions.

Whose position we agree with isn't the point. Both men did what they could, IMHO, to preserve the unity and peace of the church.
