Why would the Pope kiss the Quran?

The man in the photo is The Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq, Raphael I, he is the spiritual guide of the majority of Iraq's Christians -- who still celebrate their liturgy in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus. Now why do you believe these two christian leaders were passing around the koran, even if they were the Church teaches the Cannon of scripture is closed and that it cannot be reopened no oppotunity for the muslims to get it in the Catholic Church.

Do you have any proof that the book is the Koran or do you just take an anti-catholic's word for it. Oh, I suppose the guy with the rag on his head is your proof. There are many Catholics in the middle east including Iraq.

How sad. Wanting world unity so bad as to accept(actually kiss it??? ) a false book of lies from people who hate the very gospel he is supose to stand for. Looks like a support of the one world religion to me. And to think I had always thought the pope wasn't going to have anything to do with that. Looks like I was wrong.

We'll give allowance for bad Muslims though; wont we ?

I would assume; possibly incorrectly, that if the Pope kissed the Koran, then that would be as a sign of respect.

Bear in mind that Catholics have a little more in common than Protestants, In that Muslims have a similar set of doctrines relating to Mary.

So let's make the accusatoin before we have the facts is what you are saying. Could the Pope have done something wrong. Oh certainly. He is a man. There have been a few very bad Popes. Leo somthing or other around Martin Luther's time was a bit of a fillanderer. John VI was from my understanding somewhat of an immoral Pope. Even Peter from the Bible has his problems. The gates of Hell will not prevail inspite of the men that are in the office. But you people show him kissing a book and want us to jump all over him because of your hatred of the man. It ain't gonna happen on your say so so deal with it.
