No, I have no interest in seeing the film, either at the cinema or on dvd.
I think my time is better spent on focussing on the Word of God.

I am totally behind those Christians who do not want to see this movie -- I don't blame you! I do need to see it because I will get emails related to my ministry from people having read this book or seen the movie and making allegations based on that.
Also, today I talked to a Sr. High Youth Group about the book and was able to point out things from my copy of the book that I read. I would not be able to do this if I had not read it with any real credibility.

Tonight we finished our "Coffee, Tea, and DaVinci" outreach. To review, down the hill from our church building is a theatre that is showing "The DaVinci Code" and next door to that is a diner. We reserved the upstairs space in the diner and advertised for anyone interested to come by after the movie for free coffee or tea and a discussion of the book/movie.
On Saturday, at our first session, neighbors of our pastor came out for the discussion. They included an elderly couple who are Roman Catholic and their son who is "gay". None of the three had read the book or seen the movie, so the questions went far afield. However, our pastor has been befriending these folks for about two years and we were able to share the gospel with them and talk about many spiritual matters.
Our second session on Saturday night and our first session on Sunday night had no attendees. We were disappointed, but as this is our first attempt at this type of outreach, we were not sure what to expect.
On Sunday, prior to the movie's showing, we went to the parking lot of the theatre and passed out fliers about our discussion to patrons entering the movie. Finally after the 7:15 showing tonight we had three people show up for the discussion. One was Paul who professed to be an agnostic. The other was Ed and his girlfriend. Ed is Catholic and his girlfriend was...shall we say...hostile. We shared historical evidence for the four gospels and pointed out weaknesses in Dan Brown's evidence. We were also able to share the gospel with these three as well. They thanked us. Even Ed's hostile girlfriend warmed up to us near the end!!!
We were a little disappointed with the small turnout, but we are greatful for those who came. I'm also greatful for faithful lay-people in our church who passed out fliers at the theatre and were pretty aggressive in meeting, greeting, and inviting people to attend. This is a type of outreach that we need to develop and expand in the days ahead. I think it was a good first step. Teh low turnout was disappointing, but the opportunity to share the gospel was a thrill!!!

I know I'm preaching to the choir jswaim, but you and your church were faithful to evangelize -- small turnout or not -- you did what God would have you do. Reminds me of the phrase "good and faithful servant."

I'm not going to waste 8.50 to see it at the movies because i have better things to spend my money on. I won't read the novel because i have too many other books to read. As for the movie on DVD, i may rent it since i will probably have a free rental due to me by the time it comes out, lol.

I think this is one of those rare occassions that will allow us to engage our culture with the truth. Lost people are going to be seeing this movie, and they are going to be asking a lot of questions about it.

I guess I'm a lone wolf here but being a committed christian I dont even mind! My bible tells me to preach the gospel to every creature! It clearly tells Timothy to 'preach the word'. No where does it tell us to immerse ourself in the ways of the world and their sin to better share the gospel! I dont have to be a prostitute to know that is sin or to share the word of God! The bible says to separate ourself from the very appearance of evil! I consider that book, from what is reported of its plot, to be evil! Do we really need to delve into all types of evil to know what God wants us to do? That is truly ridiculous and I see it as an excuse for some to mingle a little with the devils tricks, trying to play both sides if you will! That is truly walking on the edge of extreme danger and I certainly cant see that it would be pleasing to God! No, I will not read the book, nor see the movie nor discuss the plot! I WILL tell the truth of God's word and of His gospel and what Christ did on the cross! Thats what the world needs to hear, not whats wrong with the DiVinci Code!!! Where will it stop? How many evil plots will you partake of? I consider those who read the book and see the movie partaking of SIN and trying to excuse their reason for it!!

No we will not be seeing it. We are not giving money to someone who claims to have real facts that prove Jesus isn't who He is, who calims Christianity isn't true. Nor will we give money to Hollywood and tell them by buying a ticket that this is what we want to see, so make more antichristian movies. The more tickets a movie sells the more popular it is and those are the kinds of movies Hollywood will be making. We will not promote antichristian movies like that.

This is an opportunity to point others to the truth and for some it is the first time they have shown any interest in Christianity at all. I am not going to close myself off from them, but rather go to where they are, just as Paul did on Mars Hill. I understand some do not feel comfortable doing this and I certainly would not urge them to do so, but I feel that this is a way for me to reach and dialogue with certain non-Christians.

I will probably see the movie on PPV or when it trickles down to a premium.
I don't buy into the idea you have to experience something in order to carry on meaningful dialogue with non-Christians concerning it. If you want to see it, see it. If you don't, don't.
I think the Bible gives us enough to combat questions that contradict it.

There are times that I read or see stuff. But I don't think it is necessary in exhaustive detail every time.
For example, if it is necessary to meticulously read "The Da Vinci Code" to speak against it, it pulls a lot from the Gnostic Gospels. They are false. I have not read very much of them. But I do not have to minutely read them to know that the Gnostic Gospels are false and to speak against them. Yet it is good that some scholars minutely study them.

But I do not have to minutely read them to know that the Gnostic Gospels are false and to speak against them. Yet it is good that some scholars minutely study them.
