"In Washington, several senators suggested Moore should withdraw from the race. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters that "if these allegations are true, (Moore) must step aside."

Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., echoed that. "If these allegations are true, there is no place for Roy Moore in the United States Senate,” he said in a statement."

this one just seems off, they're going back over thirty years and it's not his first run for office. Strange how it all comes out right now, and he's been on the State Supreme Court all this time.

John McCain's "opinion" is worthless, he called for Moore to resign immediately whether this was true or not - this coming from a known adulterer. He probably helped plant this.

This "defense" is sickening, and theologically wrong, too. Jesus was not the result of sexual relations between Mary and Joseph. Ziegler appears to be saying that even if the allegations are true, there is nothing wrong with what happened.

“Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.” - Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler

Alabama state auditor defends Roy Moore, invokes Mary and Joseph

The rank hypocrisy of the Trump haters never ends. All it takes to end the Candidacy of a Trump supporter is a mere accusation of impropriety. Doesn't matter there is no proof and the accusation has miraculously appeared after more than 30 years. I'd like some proof. Thank you very much.

Did you apply that same skepticism to Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, et al?

Also, I have not said anything about whether the allegations are true. This is in the news and could affect the Alabama race for the U.S. Senate. But I can tell you that Moore is not being well served by folks like Ziegler.

But you' re not willing to give Moore the benefit of the doubt...and the only reason is Trump.

    That, my friend, is hypocrisy.

You couldn't hardly wait to start the thread. Had to spread it, even if if is a total lie.

I didn’t start this thread until about 7 hours after I first saw the story in the Washington Post. It had been well hashed over on Twitter and Facebook by the time I posted.

Of course the Repub establishment wants Judge Moore to withdraw, he wasn't their candidate. Now, who would they want to replace him? Why good ole Luther Strange, their boy. How convenient! I bet that this whole thing is an establishment Repub dirty trick and McConnell's hands are probably all over this.

Yep, the quota for sexual deviants, habitual liars, and backstabbers has already been reached.

The Washington Post interviewed more than 30 people and all four women gave their names; these are no anonymous sources. Let’s see if Moore will belly up to the bar and deny these accusations point by point. Or, if guilty, he could ask for forgiveness from the people of Alabama as David asked for forgiveness when confronted by Nathan.

Why should he even bother? He could just buy them off for more than they are being paid to tell their lies.

See the thread how Russians play the tune and democrats dance. Never Trumpies do the same dance.

You are really citing WaPo as an authority? "Pravda on the Potomac?" A wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC?

Yes. I subscribe to the Washington Post and my local newspaper. I am going believe a well-researched story in the Washington Post or the New York Times or any number of historically credible newspapers, not something from Breritbart, Infowars, et al.

Having voted for Barack Obama twice and Hillary Clinton last year, and since I am an Opportunity Democrat according to a Pew Research quiz, I am certainly in the center-left to center-right(folks like Evan McMullin) category. I have only voted for one Republican in the past 13 years and that was in a local race and the candidate lived in my neighborhood.

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that Roy Moore is asking for money and votes, not me or anyone else on this board. Attack me all you want, but it’s the GOP and its candidate that’s in trouble in the public eye.

Maybe we should wait and see if the allegations are true.

    Just a suggestion.
