When did God die and leave you in charge of how many children people have? Did I miss the memo? Or are you overstepping your bounds?

No mention of Husband! I sure hope the rest of the family have well-paying jobs! Sounds like the family at least look after them...sort of.......Hmmmmmm

Pastor Larry, are you sitting on a tack? :flower: :flower:

If this woman has already got SIX children, NO husband, CANNOT support herself, and takes (alledgedly) fertility treatments to have multiple MORE babies.........then something ain't right with her decision making skills, nor her parents' decision making skills, and certainly her doctor is not competent.

I don't know that she has husband and can't support herself. I haven't seen that information, though I have seen a lot of people assume it.

But do we really have the right to tell other people how many children to have? I don't think so.

Perhaps we should have more information before drawing judgments.

"man limits procreation. . . . This correction of the Divine will seems to him as wise . . . and he takes delight in having once again gotten the best of nature"

"She is young," the acquaintance says, "fairly young. She has six children already. And in those six children, she has a set of twins."

While the hospital where the octuplets were born, Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center in Bellflower, Calif., some 17 miles southeast of L.A., hasn't confirmed that the mom used fertility drugs, there are no documented cases of naturally conceived octuplets, Kauffman points out.

The woman and her children live on a cul-de-sac with her parents.

This came from the link in the OP.

Also (and I wasn't sure about posting this), when I first heard this yesterday, she claimed that she was going to nurse them all herself.

When I heard that, I knew that this was a woman with no prior experience with babies. When I read that she already has 6 six children, I thought that this must be a woman with no logical reasoning abilities for her to think that she can nurse all 8 of them herself.

One of the sites I read this afternoon claimed that she is feeding them from bottles with donated milk.

I, like you, do not believe in telling people how to run their lives. But I do believe that people should not willy-nilly make irresponsible decisions and expect us all to sit by idly and say, "Isn't that special".

Those babies are a blessing, but where is the father....and who is going to take care of all 14 of them.....and is she going to have more?

I agree it is none of my business. I also know it cost money to raise two daughters and put them through college and I do have money. Two was enough for me.

Jim

Well, the babies are all here now, so let's pray that some Christians help out and witness, if she's not a believer. Let's pray the Lord takes care of them because no matter how they got here, they are precious.

On another note, I'd rather read about this woman than about women having abortions.

You have a very valid point.

In a related story:

The woman was just fined $500 for littering.

(Get it? Littering?)

It doesn't say she isn't married. I am not saying she is. I don't know. I am saying that as of now, I don't have enough information. It doesn't say what her source of income is. It doesn't say what her relationship with her parents is. Just not enough info.

When I heard that, I knew that this was a woman with no prior experience with babies. When I read that she already has 6 six children, I thought that this must be a woman with no logical reasoning abilities for her to think that she can nurse all 8 of them herself.
You see the contradiction here right? You say she doesn't have prior experience and then say she has six children. That sounds like "prior experience." Again, I don't have enough information and I don't think you do.

I, like you, do not believe in telling people how to run their lives.
Really? You seem to believe in telling a woman with six kids that she shouldn't have more. You seem to believe in telling a doctor who he can treat and how. That sounds a lot like telling people how to run their lives.

As I said, we don't have enough information.

CBS newspeople were discussing this woman again this morning. She lives with her parents in a 3-bedroom house with all the kiddies and apparently the neighbours are getting all upset about it. They have nothing and the neighbours are expected to keep supplying food and supplies and milk for the babies.

It does not sound like a very good situation, in my opinion. Three adults in house and 14 kiddies! I expect there will be more news coverage before this is settled.

Cheers,

Jim

There are quite a few welfare mothers who have keep having children with many different men and I never see any news coverage of any of them. No one seems upset about it. I guess this is different since she had so many at once.

I don't care how many kids she has, as long as the taxpayer isn't expected to help support her financially.

More Info from Yahoo

But the grandfather warned that media may have a tougher time finding the family after the babies are released from the hospital.
"We have a huge house, not here," said the man, who would only identify himself as Ed. "You are never going to know where it is."
The mother also has two children, ages 5 and 3, and 2-year-old twins, neighbors told the Times.
Suleman said her daughter had embryos implanted last year, and after finding out she was pregnant with multiple babies was given the option by doctors of selectively reducing the number of embryos. The woman declined.
"What do you suggest she should have done? She refused to have them killed," Suleman told the Times. "That is a very painful thing."

I also heard from foxnews that she is married to a contractor, but can't find a quote to link to.

She just needs an agent to arrange book rights, interviews, etc.

The last time God addressed this topic, He said, "Go forth and multiply, and fill the earth"...

The earth is filled now.

As a taxpayer, who do I think will be helping to support these children...me! While I'm glad she has kept them, and this isn't about abortion, this needs to be about common sense and responsibility. If Kaiser gave her fertility drugs, they need to foot the bill instead of the taxpayers. I hear the argument used that God opens and closes the womb...true, but that is not an excuse to take on more than you can handle and avoid birth control methods. Afterall, if she had her tubes tied, and God wanted to "open her womb", He will. The liberalistic mindframe that we should all be able to do whatever we want to doesn't fly.

I can't help wonder at why her Dr/clinic, Kaiser, didn't talk her out of this drug.. She apparently had no problem conceiving...

I think it is really irresponsible of this woman, and the clinic. The shame is, if someone forms a law out of this, legit couples will be punished.
