After the second goal, I totally lost interest. Just as they are politically and practically, France is totally defenseless.

I've had France on the brain today. I said Argentina was playing France earlier today when I was talking to a framing crew. They corrected me, too.

Duh. Oh well. I meant Brazil, regardless. They are also offenseless without Neymar.

Which kinda shoots my theory in the foot from the other day. Obviously if FIFA really wanted the host country in the final, they'd have red-carded half of the Deutsche team by now.

I saw it going two ways: 2-1 Germany, or 1-0 Brazil (if Germany had a bad day). I do not think anyone could have reasonably predicted this, however.

It could have easily been 7-8 nil if Germany hadn't pulled back a bit

I'm assuming they have inserted the lame, halt, and infirm -- and perhaps the waterboy -- to avoid such an outcome?

They are stil playing defence - I think they have already put in all three subs. And they still have come close to scoring again

At 4:27 in the afternoon? Must be a boring game.

Yeah, I know what time it is in Ireland.

Especially if he got the bookie to cover a six-goal win. Can't imagine a bookie who wouldn't jump at that chance ... and if one did, he's now contemplating retirement at the end of a .45.

Bad business, no matter which end of it you're in (said the former disordered gambler).

I will call Germany by two points.

They score "goals," not points ...

And you thought it would be easy, I guess. Argentina was obviously tired. They had an extra-time/shootout game with the Nederlands. Your guys had a walk in the park. Maybe the semis and the final should be a week apart.

Tighter than I thought it would be. Thoroughly enjoyed even though it's past my bedtime.

I agree. I did not expect an overtime game.

Walk in the park? You must have been watching a different game.
