Would you classify John The Baptist as a fundamentalist or a Pharisee?

A gospel without repentance is no gospel at all. John preached repentance.

Originally by Dr. Bob "vitriolic spewing" As a "fruit inspector", I ask you to CONSIDER YOUR WAYS.
I am a fundamentalist, proudly so. You, sir/ma'am, are not worthy of that name.
Your attack and disregard for Moderators shows only immaturity and antinomian spirit.
I get brought on the carpet because of what I say? WHEN DID I SAY ANYTHING THAT COMPARES TO THIS?
Same old thing, preach on Bible correcters and britches on women and........ duck!
AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUNDAMENTAL MESSAGE BOARD......
I'll keep preaching to the world...at least they know they're lost! -
This just lends more credence to my assessment in the other thread. You are used to telling people what they should think and having them cower at your presence.
Here, when you call someone a "Bible corrector" you get challenged... when you call it a sin for women to wear something other than your standard for them, you get challenged. Rather than providing sound, biblical answers, you have shown a tendency of getting offended then either making personal attacks or portraying yourself as a martyr (like John the Baptizer).
What you consider fundamentalism is based on extra-biblical teachings or applications of principles that have been crystalized by folks like you into laws for Christian holiness. This is not fundamentalism.
Do you think it takes agreement with you on Bible versions or women's clothing to validate salvation? -
You major on things that Jesus never did. He majored on what God wanted from the beginning not the things man judges another by. You are not a fundamentalist but a true liberal. You believe what you want to believe not what Jesus taught and God commanded. Just take a simple lok at Jesus' preaching and see how the master does compared to you. See what Jesus preached on and how he dealt with people. Sometime read the gospels and see how Jesus dealt with those who were lost and then the legalists. You know the religionsists.
When you talk about pants I assume you like it when ladies wear dresses 12 feet up in the air on top of a hay pile on a truck or trailer. Is that the reason why you think women should not wear pants. Or have you never worked doing that kind of farm labor. Sometime think about what you write and consider the practicality of it. If you don't know the diference between women's pants and men then you are blind. There was a time when people didn't drive cars either. Do you drive a car? If so the Amish would claim you are a modern.
The major thing is: who's living for Jesus Christ because of your life? How many are you presently discipling according to Matthew 28:19,20? Your preaching is worthless unless you are currently discipling those in your church and training them to reach others and disciple them. When you begin to disciple those you have just led to Christ then you might begin to get a glimpse of what Jesus dealt with. I would rather be a fool for Christ than a fool for man's rules. Start preaching the Bible rather than what you have been told. If you begin to seriously study and disciple others you will come back a different man. You won't have enough hours to think the way you do.
Fig trees don't produce olives and salt water does not produce fresh water. The mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.
If you will read the responses to your postings and see your response it is clear your mind is made up. Like someone said to Ben Franklin, "Ben, you are impossible. Your opinions have a slap in them for everyone who differs with you. They have become so expensive that nobody cares for them. Your friends find they enjoy themselves better when you are not around. You know so much that no man can tell you anything. Indeed, no man is going to try, for the effort would only lead to discomfort and hard work. So you are not likely ever to know any more then you do now, which is very little."
When you begin to consider what others are telling you then you might be able to step aside from the fundamentalist cloak and teach what the Bible says. You are not a fundamentalist. What you are simply doing is repeating the ignorance of what you have been told. A true fundamnetalist is honest with himself before God and honest with what scripture teaches. His theology is derived from the scripture. He does not read his theology into scripture. One must do exegesis not eisegesis.
Just give me one example where men or women wore britches in the scripture. If you would be true to the culture of that time and go along with what you propose to stand for then you would wear the same dress they wore. You wouldn't have to worry about lacy underwear. You might have at least an outer garment and then possibly if you had some wealth you might also wear an inner garment too. -
Clearly Shiloh you are not going to show me from the Bible where I am wrong. You'd rather just accuse me of attacking you.
Sad, isn't it? -
As for John - He was a Great Prophet/Preacher that was fundamentalistic in style, but was no way a Pharisee as he never preached Extra-Biblical rules and regulations to follow.
Here's a simple rule to live by:
IF IT'S NOT IN THE BIBLE --- DON'T PREACH IT! -
If you will read the responses to your postings and see your response it is clear your mind is made up. So you are not likely ever to know any more then you do now, which is very little." This stuff should be on the "Clean Humor" page. Obviously most of you people either don't read the Bible, (of course most of you don't even have one) or are in denial.
Joh 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
Joh 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
What would have been the response from the board junkies here?
If you think that's bad......Joh 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. WOW!
Now let me give some strong medicine to the baptist jellyfish....you hyper spiritual crowd that I'm so glad isn't typical of the Ind. Fun. Bapt. church.
Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Joh 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
Joh 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, [yet] my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
Joh 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
Joh 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
Joh 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
Joh 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
Joh 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
Joh 8:20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
Joh 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
Joh 8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
Joh 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
Joh 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.
Joh 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even [the same] that I said unto you from the beginning.
Joh 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
Joh 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
Joh 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
Joh 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: [but] the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Joh 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
Joh 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
Joh 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
Joh 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
Joh 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God.
Joh 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Joh 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not.
Joh 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.
I'm sure the SBC moderator won't be able to handle this post, after it's KJV!
Let me give you computer junkies some final thoughts....
1. With God's help I'm not going to change my message. As we see the DAY approaching we see less and less faith in the land. Just read this board.
2. I do a lot of traveling, some day I might preach to you.
3. I love you all :D -
Interesting reminders in this topic of the following
Holy Scripture. Perchance this is a message from
the Written Word of God?
2 Peter 2:10-12 (nKJV):
and especially those who walk according to the flesh
in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority.
They are presumptuous, self-willed.
They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might,
do not bring a reviling accusation against
them before the Lord.
12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught
and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand,
and will utterly perish in their own corruption,
Of course, I have this theory that the wisest posters
are the ones who read first then start posting.
You know, sort of get the lay of the land before brashly
jumping in like a bull in a china shop.
As usual, the pseudo-Fundamentalist is recognized by
his anti-intellectualism and anti-success stances. Anybody who is
successful in having a bunch of conversions and baptisms
must be in league with the Devil (you know, that devil that
sits around puting his paw print on the New King James Version
title page).

What an edifying response Pastor Larry and Mr. Ed, Thank you for your comments. When one can't respond to Scripture they resort to personal attack. Pastor Shiloh

IN THE BIBLE VERSIONS/TRANSLATIONS FORUM
THERE ARE SOME GOOD POSTS REGARDING THIS PAGAN SYMBOL, BUT LIKE USUAL THE FAR LEFT HAS ALREADY CLOSED THEIR MIND TO THE SUBJECT AND WILL NOT REGARD ANY PROOF OTHERWISE. -

No your questions are stupid! Who do you think I am, The Holy Spirit? If the Holy Spirit is convicting you of these things it doesn't matter what I think!

SHILOH,
Joh 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you
Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world
