You seem to have missed the point (again). !
Negative!!! The good sheriff knew he was going to retire (for the $$) Our newspaper tends to be more liberal -
had there been any inclination of such greed, I know the Post Standard would have asked the questions. However, since this greed has not be done in the recent history, no one ever even thought about the possibility. (even when it was taken advantage of in the past, the County was in excellent financial condition.)
Running on the Conservative Party ballot line, the candidate was affirming he has conservative fiscal policies. But it looks like my Party can no longer assume anything in the future.
Currently Onondaga County is facing a budget problem - due to State mandated programs - such as Medicaid (eg- free taxi rides to & from doctor - anywhere in the range of 5 - 50 dollars one way).
A big issue was the County Sheriff Helicopter. There was talk about selling it to save money - but a deal was worked out to keep it as it has been a great asset to police work and other emergencies.
The County was willing to work with the Sheriff - then Walsh goes an pulls this stunt.:tear:
And to repeat again the point "NO- The news media was not lacking due diligence! "
Here are my questions next time he runs for office and wants our Party endorsement
1. How many coffee breaks do you take a day, and for how long?
2. If you buy gas for your govt vehicle, how many gas stations do you drive by to get the cheapest gas
3. Would you give the President of the United States a parking ticket for illegal parking
4. Do you bring in a doctors note after being on sick leave.
Should we ask those ques tins - sounds sill don't they?.....
