It would be nice to something, anything on television besides reality shows. I'd gladly trade new episodes of NBC's The Office or Scrubs for their Clash of the Choirs.
Writer's Strike: What shows do you miss?

There is a writer's strike?
-
The worst writers in the world, imo, are teaching writing to our kids. Close behind them, in a ranking of worst writers, are Hollywood movie writers. Actually, no...movie writers are the worst, followed by teachers. Next are television writers. There are few "artists" as easily replaced as television writers. I don't miss them at all.
On a side note, I hope the strike somehow shakes up the current wave of well-produced shows about truly horrible people (characters), such as Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, House, etc, etc.
There are, I admit, some shows I will miss if they are delayed. But I have lots of reading to catch up on anyway.... -

I miss 24 and Jericho. Battlestar Galactica too....That's about it....

As far as I know, the strike has not been a problem with TV LAND:thumbs: . Now when it interferes with LOST....:tonofbricks:

I have not seen any impact by this strike on my viewing of C-SPAN or C-SPAN2.

I was wondering why there haven't been more episodes of MASH and the B/W Andy Griffith? Sure hope they settle this strike soon so we can get more quality episodes on the air...

Aren't most of the shows effected the talk shows, especially late night shows? Most series tv was written well before the strike, and most filmed already.

The thing that amazes me is this. The late night talk show hosts have writers that write their jokes. So, they they are not funny, the writers are!
Why not skip the middle man and put the writers on air. They are the ones I want to see!!

I am not even an occasional viewer of any of the prime-time shows, so whether there is or is not a writers' strike doesn't affect me.
Like you Martin, the only channels I watch even a bit are Food Network (Paula Deen's 'Home Cooking' and Alton Brown's 'Good Eats') and one or two shows on TV Land (Andy Griffith, Beaver and maybe a bit of I Love Lucy.
Most of the shows I like are from the 1950's or early 1960's.
(And I do agree with Chessic's comments about Hollywood's so-called "writers".) -

Any idea if the strike will affect LOST's season 4?

Saw an ad on ABC saying that Lost will return with 8 new episodes at the end of January. Made me wonder...haven't they been away making new episodes for 6-8 months now? Have they only made 8 episodes? I'm hoping there are more; maybe there will be a short break after the 8 and then more are otw. Several news reports I've seen on the issue say many shows have a year or more of scripts prepared in advance.
There haven't even been re-runs in my area, but you can get a few of them online at the ABC site.
