So, how are those Yankees doing? Any predictions? :type:

I picked the Yanks to win the World Series at the beginning of the season, and I think they'll win. They've struggled with their pitching, even picking up Sidney Ponson at one point, but there have been no struggles offensively.
With Liriano hurt, I don't think the Twins have the starting pitching to beat the Yankees. I think the only real challenge the Yankees have will be from the Detroit Tigers. -
Oh great, a Detroit team or the Yankees...
Can we just cancel the rest of the baseball season :) -
Hey ... I think certain places of eternal damnation are in danger of freezing over with the Tigers playing meaningful baseball in September and getting ready for October. Can the dream last for a few more weeks?

there is no other team except the Yankees. The 2nd leading hitter in the league is batting 9th in their lineup. They have everyone back from injured. The pitching might be suspect but a team will have to score more than Jeter, Sheffield, Arod, Giambi et al to beat them and I'm not sure any other team can do that.

Same thing was said the year the Diamondbacks beat them. Same thing was said the year the Marlins beat them.

I wouldn't discount the Twins yet.
-
So, I'm hopping onboard the Minnesota Twins bandwagon. -

You gather correct.

Thought so.... Here comes the playoffs. May the best team win! :) :) :) -
May any team other than the Yankees win :)

Roger that!

Yes, I would not discount the Twins either, because they are the luckiest franchise in sports history, mainly because they have the worst stadium in sports and use that to their advantage. They turn on the fans when the Twins are batting (the fans blow out). Their World Series wins in '87 and '91 were the luckiest in history.
-
I am not sure the Twins are the luckiest. They had good teams in both 87 and 91. I would vote for the Marlins and their 2 WS teams as the luckiest.
-
The '91 team was better, but not great. Again, by luck of the draw, they got home field in both ALCS and W.S. Without home field, they would have lost both of those W.S.'s.
My real beef with them is their stadium - one of the worst in sports. -
