On the evening of November 2nd:
"All right, were are starting to get results in now.
With 2% of the precincts in New York State reporting and 1% of the precincts in Massachusetts, John Kerry has taken a commanding lead.
So ABC News now projects that John Kerry is our new president!"
"Hi, I am Dan Rather!
With 3% of the precincts in New Hampshire reporting, we now project that John Kerry is our new president!"
"Here at NBC, it is now 7:04 PM, with the polls just closing on the East Coast.
Don't even bother to go vote, you people out west. John Kerry has won it.
Just go home and forget about it."

Actually, the West Coast is now pretty much Kerry territory.
And the upper midwest is going that way, and now Ohio, according to the last poll.
Good news for Kerry is going to be sorta stretched out over the evening, if it is good news.
