I have come across a few posts recently that have turned out to be quotes from other sources, but because there was no indication whatever that they were quotes, I at first wrongly assumed that they were the words of the poster.
It would surely make things much clearer if such posts started with a sentence like: "I came across this recently." Or, if the poster has tired typing fingers :), just put quotation marks around the quoted words. Otherwise, how are we to tell if they are your own words, or someone else's?
Your own words, or someone else's?

Yes, plagiarism seems to be a favorite sport of some posters on these forums.

I either use quotation marks and put a link to the material or wrap the phrase in quote tags and then also put a link to the source.
-
I use the quote function and post a link to the source. If I'm not mistaken I think thats how it is required on the BB(link to the source).

When my words are found to be viewed as words of wisdom important enough to be repeated by others to confront errors in judgement, I can at the least view those who repeat my words to be at the least as wise as myself and thereby I am found to be admired and complimented. ( or they are as dumb as me)
Those ARE my owrds.
There is nothing new under the sun whe it comes to words.
Plagiarism only occurs when one submits the words of another as their own when it profits themselves to advance themselves without giving proper credit to the person they have quoted.
Using quotes to impress others as if they are their own words is simply deceitful and must be confronted as such.
This might only be a laxity to properly annotate quoted words and is also against BB rules for not using the proper quote annotations. -
Beyond that, I agree as to the balance of what you have said, including the fact, that I too, make all my own posts "from scratch", so they are my own words, as well.
BTW, anything posted on the BB, is also copyrighted, both de facto and de jure, by the poster, and de facto and de jure by the BB, as well.
Salamander is exactly correct, here, as to everything else he posted. Let's keep it honorable, folks.

"There is nothing new under the sun" (Ecc. 1:9) is under a common (or shared?) copyright by the NIV, NASB, TNIV, ESV, NLV and HCSB, among perhaps others, and in the public domain by the DARBY. (How do you copyright something already in the "public domain??)
"There is no new thing under the sun" is under the 'Royal patent' 'copyright' of the Anglican church and the crown of England, but can also be found in the public domain via the ASV, RV, BBE, WEB, and others.
But "my owrds" is copyrighted solely by Salamander and the Baptist Board.
