Made righteous by Christ obedience.
Rom 5:19
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Just as adams disobedience made many sinners, so likewise, Jesus christ obedience made many sinners righteous..
Not their obedience, not their faith [which is obedience], not their water baptism, not their repentance..but Jesus christ obedience made them righteous before God..
The word made is the greek word:
kathistēmi which means:
to constitute, to render,... -
Another Determinist Question
If God is in control of everything to the point of determining what I'm going to have for lunch on Friday (see other thread), how can the Holy Spirit be grieved? How can the Holy Spirit be quenched?
The Bible says,
"Grieve not the Holy Spirit" Eph. 4:30
"Quench not the Spirit" 1 Thess 5:19
Is it God's decreed will that the Spirit is grieved? I don't think so.
Is it God's permissive will that the Spirit is grieved? I don't think so.
So how can the Spirit be grieved? Or if you like, why is... -
A Determinist Question
I've asked this before but here goes again.
Does God determine everything that happens even down to the smallest detail?
I'll use an example to illustrate: Does god determine what I will have for lunch next Friday?
Or do I decide what I'm going to have for lunch next Friday and God had foreknowledge of my choice? -
Signs of an Apostle
Signs of an Apostle
So the apostles were specifically required to be witnesses to the ministry of Jesus and were empowered for this purpose. They had experienced the ministry of Jesus and they could provide direct testimony of the incredible things which they witnessed - none of us can do that today. Other Scriptures to carefully consult here are Matthew 10:1,8 Mark 16:20 and Luke 9:1-2. Also, in Acts 1:21, when the apostle's... -

can someone define "pastoral authority"?
It often comes up in debates and discussions in Baptist circles.
If we mean a pastor dealing with sin in a member of the congregation, I think we would all agree Mt. 18 gives us a pretty good outline. The final outcome should (I think) be up to a vote of the church, but that is another debate.
Usually it isn't used in the matter of sin--like adultery, lying, etc.
Usually it is used when someone disagrees with the pastor over how church should be done. The pastor may want one kind... -
Lifeway
I was in our local Lifeway store yesterday and a guy came in and asked the sales clerk if they had a book called "The Shack". I was sure she was going to say, "we don't carry that book, but instead she directed him to it. I like the Lifeway store because you aren't bombared with rows and rows of Osteen, Meyer and Jakes books, but I was a little shocked they carried The Shack. Does this bother anyone else? -
John 3:19-21
Calvinists and those from the reformed religions like to use John 3:19 to support their false beliefs of total depravity. Total Depravity meaning no one can believe in God after learning of Him.
John 3:19-23 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into... -
Philippians 3:12
Philip. 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Paul flatly denies that he has attained being "PERFECT" in spite of the fact that Jesus said "Be ye therefore perfect EVEN AS your father in heaven IS perfect" (Mt. 5:46).
1. So has Christ commanded what even an apostle cannot "attain"?
2. Is the Apostle disobedient to Christ's command?
3. Was Christ... -
God's Sovereignty
God is sovereign when He opens the heart of man (His Sovereign choice) and gives him a choice to respond to him because that is the way God wants it done in His sovereignty. That is God's will and plan therefore this is not a Sovereignty issue.
You may disagree that this is the will of God but such a debate does not involve the sovereignty of God. We both see It seems to suggest that is only a pejorative and a way to beat others down. To engage this difference in this way is sophomoric,...
