Boy, the coffee house is SLOW lately! Don't ya people drink coffee anymore? LOL

I'm living on coffee right now - as is apparently everyone else at VBS this week. I served 140 cups of regular coffee today (50 cups of decaf)! We go through 70 cups before VBS even starts! It's amazing!

But that's why I've not been doing much here. It's crazy busy this week because I'm at church from 8-1:30 each day and then after that, I have to do whatever else needs to be done at home and such. Today was setting up stuff for the deaf church and then I went to ride. Yesterday was going to Costco and the supermarket to get more stuff for VBS. Tuesday was dentist and additional shopping. But it will be all done tomorrow - and God has blessed us so much this week. It's been great - but exhausting.

Oh, what a day!
Last week our son came home from church camp sick. I think it's being passed around now...he's over it with just a bit of a lingering cough, but now two of the girls are sick and so am I, with a migraine fading in and out for good measure.
DH is out of state. His intention was to bring back the contents of some stuff in storage, but he got to the rental truck place and even though he had a reservation, they didn't have a truck! They're trying to fix it, but right now it looks like he'll just have to hop back on a plane and have wasted a trip. On the other hand, he'll be back here and I can't wait to have him back in my arms.

The youngest is gonna be helping me make some chocolate chip cookies in a little bit here. That should be fun! I'm hoping the headache will die a little more before then, but it'll still be a good time regardless. I love watching little ones learn how to cook!

RA Camp

Well I made it home safe and sound (mind) from RA Camp. We had no major injuries, but our last day of activities were rained out. The men were out on the porch enjoying the rain when we heard a ruckus from inside. Upon investigation we found the boys enjoying a game of mop-bucket bumper cars, very ingenious. Many boys made professions of faith, many more confessed sins and got right with God. It was an awesome week.

Does anyone have a recipe for the wafers to make banana pudding? I did have it but I can't find it anywhere. Banana pudding is Rob's comfort food and he needs cheering up.

Good ....afternoon! I haven't had coffee today, but I did think about it! It's supposed to be 101, so if I do, it will have to be iced.

Gina, Gina...when I was in the army and in the desert, we were forced to drink hot tea at 2 in afternoon. It was deemed a hot beverage was far better than a cold beverage.I can still enjoy a hot cuppa no matter how hot it is outdoors. It got to be 140f in the desert by day and dropped to a freezing 70f at night. We had to wear winter clothing at night.

I thought that a long time ago Jim, but decided maybe I heard wrong after trying it. :laugh: Heat is not my thing - how could you STAND 140? You could cook your breakfast on a rock at that temp!

I have an idea cos I lived in Northern Saskatchewan,,,next stop Northwest Territories,,,,My kettle froze on the cooker in winter. Food was stored down below floor,,yeppers, it was cold, but I got used to it.

First time posting in this thread (or any of its predecessors). Feels kinda strange...

I was able to go to church last Sunday (I didn't drive back up tot he hospital until Monday, but Mom was OK with that). It was good to get to sit beside my wife and worship.

After the service I headed out to the car. The pastor and the chairman of the deacons walked up and tapped on my window. My first thought was, "Uh-oh, what did I do?" Both said they were happy to see me and asked how my dad was doing.

The chairman of the deacons then told me that the church had recently had open nominations for some new deacons to replace those we had lost. My name was one of the three top candidates mentioned and that the deacons were unanimous in support of me. The pastor chimed in that he is in support of this as well. They asked me to pray about it and let them know someting this Sunday if I could.

It's not that I am not honored by it all, as I am. But I really haven't been ale to pray and study about it as I should because of everything going on in my life right now with Dad in dire shape and driving back and forth to Nashville. Honestly I don't feel that I am deacon material as I understand the high calling of both deacons and pastors. While I am a licensed minister I just don't know if I honestly can measure up to the true biblical standard.

Anyway, thanks for reading my thoughts. If you can remember it please pray with me about it. I didn't post this in the prayer forum as I feel that is for more dire things than this.

Trotter, the Lord be with your father during his hospital stay, and bless you for your faithfulness in attending to him.

On being a deacon, I would suggest you are capable and fit, as wintnessed by at least three others in your church. I am sure the NT deacons didn't feel particularly qualified, but were prepared to learn on the job. Most people did not start as chief executive director of a company. Some even started as the mailboy and worked their way up the ladder.

Good evening everyone! We just got back from our 2 week boating vacation and had a wonderful time. The weather here on the East Coast was HOT but we were out in the water so it wasn't bad - until we went up the Mystic River in CT and then we saw just how hot it's been! We went to Block Island, RI, Martha's Vineyard (the week before President Obama went there - thank heavens!), Newport, RI and some other places. The biggest blessing was that there were no storms that got us - no more than a few showers and some wind a couple of times and that was it. So now we're home, buried under TONS of laundry, all very tan and exhausted. I think it may be an early night for all of us tonight since we can now sleep with the air conditioners running! No more fans, bugs and sweaty beds.

I'll catch up on posts later - but just wanted to post a "Hi" to everyone.
